I'm looking to build out and start a tyranid army but I'm stuck on what fast attack choice do I take. I like shrikes but the fact that there is no model makes me not want to take them...what are some solid fast attack in your opinions?

You don't need a fast attack.

That being said Hive Corne, Shrikes, Raveners and Gargoyles are all between OK to good.

I have also been trying to make some shrikes myself, inspiered by scarrab beetles. They are easy to make if you want to, although the time requiered was much longer then I antisepated. But mostkly it was the warrior part and not the wings.

Yeha technically I don't need fast attack, but I like the idea of having models from each choice. but I was thinking raveners but I heard you need a bunch of them to make it worth while fielding.

Some I can't remember has had very good results with 3 ravaners deepstriking with the S5 gun. Very versatile.

3 units of 3 Raveners with deathspitters is a solid choice for fast attack. Bring the Red Terror with them from the elites section and you have a nice deep striking threat that is both effective and looks good on the battle field.

Don't underestimate gargoyles in large enough units, very handy for charging enemy flyers. I've been using a unit of 20 so far but am definitely getting it up to 30

Also, don't feel the need to have a fast attack, to have a fast attack. The category is mostly arbitrery, and what's in the category does not seem to share any characteristic.

Little in our codex is faster then a mawlock or trygon. If fast attack units are in the category because of their movement then why are spore mines there?

Elites are also a bit arbitrery. Why are not hive guards heavy support? They could be.

HQ and troops makes more sence. Most Heavy Suport makes sense, but some do not.

What I am trying to get to is this: Don't feel the need to pick up some ravaners because you want some fast attack. Pick up ravaners because you like the models, or they fitt your gameplan.

If you have a spare pile of money, splash out on a dimacheron. Its a fast attack walking blender with teeth

If you are just trying to fill 3 fast slots for the FOC then 3 Mucilids for 60 pts does it super cheap and they are great distractions. Otherwise if you want effective fast choices depending on how you play most of our fast attacks can be good if not excellent.

Well, command points are a thing. They're nice, and will only get better when nids get a codex. As a guard player I'd love to have something with gargoyle abilities in my army. They look like they'd be a great FA filler unit.
