Hello there in the new 8th edition rules fortifications have a bs of 5+, do they get the benefit of embarked units shooting the guns?
IE some Guardsment veterans in a firestorm redoubt give it a better BS of 3+ ?

Thanks for your time, sorry for bad english

Not that ive seen. Looki g at the aegis defemce line, the gun emplacement is the same but can only target the nearest unit. You cam have a friendly unit man the gun but that only lets you target a unit at will but no bonus to bs.

The only thing an embarked unit grants a fortification is the ability to pick its target rather than firing on the closest.

Forts got a LOT more expensive, a lot less accurate, and a lot less useful.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Yeh it's really daft. Emplaced guns get over the restriction of being fired at the closest unit by being fired by one of your units, but all of a sudden your 500 year old Space Marine Chapter Master somehow loses all of his ability to shoot and becomes as accurate as a human conscript...
It's also daft game wise, as Ascalam pointed out - they are now overpriced so giving them an additional nerf makes them not worth the points at all.
Also annoying that vehicles can carry multiple squads but as soon as one squad enters a building, a magical forcefield is erected over the entrance that only characters can pass through.

If these two things were FAQ'd you would still see the use of fortifications and GW's sales of Forts wouldn't be nosediving down the drain (HINT HINT IF YOU EVER READ THIS GW)
