Hello everyone,

I'm from Devon, UK and used to be involved in wargaming as a teenager around 15 years ago. I played a bit of 40k (3rd ed.) and collected almost everything else but eventually drifted away due to a lack of players my own age in the area and my dislike of actually painting anything! Having eventually sold the majority of my collection around 5 years ago I realised I kind of missed the hobby and so have been using the odds and ends I have left for some painting practice and trying to get my head around how many game options there are these days.

At the moment I am leaning more towards skirmish games like Infinity or Necromunda when it's released again. I'm also interested in things like X-Wing and Wings of Glory as a way to get playing again quickly and would eventually like to try more historical games.

If anyone has any different suggestions for a good starting point then please let me know!

There is a reasonably healthly gaming community in the Shire, you might have to travel a bit, but off the top my head the following groups / stores are a good starting point;

Exeter has an excellent FLGS in Clifton Rd Games, mostly focussed on Board Games and CCGS/LCGS but lots of other lines, also a good hub to find other gamers, there is also Rygas Roughnecks who play assorted Wargames

Crediton has the splendid Kirton Games, mostly X-Wing and GW but again an excellent hub to find other gamers

Up in the North we only have a GW store but there are two boardgame clubs, Original Gamesters (Barnstaple) and North Devon Tabletop Gaming (Bideford) along with Barnstaple Slayers Gaming Club, assorted wargamer sorts

Am a bit out of date about Plymouth but either of the stores, Antics or Dark Star would be a good start

There is also Trinity gaming Club in Taunton, which is fairly easy journey

Also the South West wargamers FB pages covers a lot of gaming going on's

Hope that helps

I'm down in Exmouth so the Exeter links would seem a good place to start. Thanks for the info
