I am about to buy into this game.. (I know better late than never) and had a few questions..

Is there a good way to introduce other players to the game.. ??

With the upgrade card you can get other pilots, can you mix and match them??

How many upgrade cards are out there ? is there certain ones I need to search out??

Anything I should stay away from at first?? (more advanced type ships that need a bit of learning before using)

The starter is a good initial purchase regardless, which allows a very simple demo game to be run between two, plus because of the way the cards and ships are paired up, it makes more sense for a serious player to collect all factions, so you ultimately end up with enough to easily field multiple lists. Then you just capitalize on nostalgia, plop a Millenium Falcon down in front of someone and they're soon hooked. The fundamentals are easy to teach too, I've never had a player not forget about learning the game and actually start playing it within more than about 3 turns.

Yes, that's an important part once you start to evolve as a player. Pilots are fixed to the ship "chassis" (Luke will only ever pilot an X Wing, for instance) but the upgrades can be attached to any ship with the appropriate slot (not all ships can take all classes of upgrade.)

Not right away. It's not collectible in the vein of something like Magic, the cards included with each expansion are publicly known and fixed. There are online squadron builders which feature all of the text Andy can be printed out, so you can make do without physical cards until you wish to enter official events, at which point you understandably need a copy of every card you're using in your list.

Nothing's horribly complicated, maybe the TIE Phantom because of its cloak/decloak mechanic. Perhaps play a few games without large base ships before introducing them, purely because they tend to have a lot more going on and fly slightly differently, and you can enjoy X Wing without ever touching a huge base ship (which essentially adds an extra subset of rules known as Epic format.)

Look for a mechanic you enjoy, and then buy the ships you want. If you enjoy astromechs, go nuts with ARC-170s, X-Wings and Y-Wings.

If you enjoy action economy, have fun with Empire.

New round of questions...

What is the difference between the Force awakens damage deck and the original edition damage deck??

What keeps someone from removing all the bad critical effects from the deck ??

What is the best glue to use for repairs.. Super Glue or plastic glue??

They contain different cards, the old core set is harsher to elite pilots than the TFA one and also contains some cards that might not effect certain lists (like getting rid of a secondary weapon).

Not being a cheating gak face? During a tourney it is expected that you check the number and type of cards in your oppos deck.

Superglue.

The original deck had some bad crits (as in weren't effective on certain ships). The TFA one is the tournament standard one, it's good to have just for that.

What keeps someone from removing all the bad critical effects from the deck ??

During tournaments your deck can be checked, I've heard of people getting disqualified just for missing 1 card. Which in the case I heard about sucked because it wasn't intentional, guy just misplaced one.

Definitely super glue

Tournaments are 100 points.

150 point games are good if you both want to take a couple of large Base ships alongside a few smaller ships. I did play a 200 point game at one point but that just gets messy and takes ages. Better to keep the games short and sweet in my view.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

If you're out and about and on android I would suggest two apps: Startactics and xwing companion.
Startactics is for squad building
Companion is a reference one and has all of the ships data etc

: 4500pts

Lothlorien: 3500pts
Rohan: 1500pts
Serpent: 2000pts
Modor: 1500pts

Alternately Aurora (which I think exists on both Android and iOS) puts both under one roof.

And if you use it for other games like 40k, Battlescribe is an option, not a great one, but an option.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

I got a deal off a local guy and found I was missing the condition cards.
Already had to contact him a few times for missing items and was wondering
if it would be just as easy to buy a few new ships and get them all.

So what are the best ships for collecting condition cards?

Have the tokens .. just missing the extra rules on the cards..and digital versions
seem troublesome.

Which condition cards? The pilot sized ones or the upgrade sized?

You can find most of these through a google image search, honestly. And they are not required tournament material.
