Why does the intercessor Sergeant in Dark Imperium without the helmet have both of his human ears intact? Every single space Maine model I've ever seen, ever, have one ear replaced with a mechanical device that I assume is Lyman's Ear. These guys though sometimes they look like they have two of them, or in this case, doesn't have the organ at all.
What's up with that?

The Lyman's ear is inside the ear, implanted into the marine. The device you see normally is a communications device.

The Lyman's Ear completely replaces one of a Space Marine's original ears. It is externally indistinguishable from a normal human ear in size and shape.

You're kidding me. This whole time assumed space marines had to get one of their ears cut off and replaced with a walkie talkie. Atleast I know now though

Yeah, I think it's a mix of tech gizmo and easier to sculpt than ears at many angles.

Cawl is just so super special that his walkie talkies look like ears.
