I have some friends who play AoS but I primarily play 40k. I'm thinking about assembling a small 1000 point army that I can play fantasy with some friends occasionally but still mostly use them in 40k.
I'm painting my first unit of Plaguebearers because I've never painted Daemons before and I want to play with washes. Plus I like the armywide FnP, they remind me of my 7th ed Necrons.
So going with a Nurgle focus to start, should I do ALL Nurgle for 1000 points or what other Daemons compliment Nurgle's weaknesses well?
Looking for opinions on making a small list, Im very new to Daemons. 40k Daemons being the focus, aos is just a bonus

It depends on the format you play. Most people play matched play and for that you're better off being mono nurgle to take advantage of unit synergy. If playing open or narrative then the sky is the limit and we would really need to see what you're playing to offer any suggestions.

Do I have something in my teeth?

Well, Daemonettes are a good contrast to Plague Bearers.

Faster, weaker, but deadlier with more attacks.

Or anything fast, like winged daemon princes, SkullCrushers, and flesh hounds.

Staying in house of Nurgle, i think nurglings are always fun, and though I've never seen them played before, Blight Drones are supposedly good from what I've read here.

I didnt mention Tzeentch, since I've never been interested. But theirs are some of the more popular daemons. Screamers. ugh.

It's all matched play where I am. All the time.
I've hardly ever seen anyone play narrative at my haunts.
Space marines, CSM and Guard mostly

Might toss in some Bloodletters and a Blood Secrator (like $5-12 on Ebay) to give them another attack, though they can't take morale anymore so you won't get that reinforcement on a 1.
It would give you some damage.

Back when me and my younger brother were more interested in AoS I tried mono Nurgle Daemons in our deathmatches.

It would take a super long time to kill them, but at least with what I had it was nigh impossible to kill anything he had, as he tended towards ranged dwarves and armies that don't have single wound models.

"Show me where it says that in the codex!" said Learchus.
"You know brother that I cannot." said Uriel.
