Flashy Flashgitz

I have Kaptin Badrukk and a unit of flashgitz in an open-topped vehicle such as a battlewagon.
While everyone is inside the vehicle I'm aware Kaptin's aura does not impact anyone.
However, if the Kaptain is outside of the vehicle but within 6 inches of the vehicle, does his aura (which only impacts flashgitz units) still benefit the flashgitz?

No they can't be affected, because as they are in a transport, they are not considered "on the battlefield", and thus can't be affected, because they aren't considered to be there in the first place.

Is this also considering that open-topped transfers modifiers and restrictions to units inside them?
Could you argue that the Kaptin's aura benefits the tank, and that is transferred to the flash gits as a modifier of sorts?

Not unless the data sheet of their transport says that's a thing.

Open topped: "Models embarked on this model can attack in their shooting phase.... When they do so, any restrictions or modifiers that apply to this model also apply to its passengers"
Same rule on trukk and battlewagon.
edit: Just for clarity, Kaptin's rule is "You can re-roll hit rolls of 1 in the shooting phase for friendly units of Flash Gitz within 6' of Kaptin"

Interesting! I took that to mean things like -1 t hit for Heavy if the vehicle moved, etc. but it does appear that an aura affecting the vehicle's shooting could work for the occupants too.
Edit: that appears to be a re-roll, not a restriction (such as can't Advance and Charge) or modifier (e.g. +1 to hit). I'd say that one is not passed on. Oh, also the Trukk itslef is not a Flash Gitz unit. Double nope.

But the kaptin's rule doesn't apply to the trukk and as such can't transfer it to passengers
