Hello All

So here is a list that i ran last weekend at an ITC tourney, it was a good list but i felt like it could be improved upon.

Spearhead detachment:

Lord (hypersword)

Triarch Stalker Twin Guass cannon

Canoptek Scarabs x8

Canoptek Scarabs x7

Sentry Pylons (heat Cannon) Teleportation Matrix

Sentry Pylons (heat Cannon) Teleportation Matrix

Annihilation Barge (tesla Cannon)

Annihilation Barge (tesla Cannon)

Doomsday Ark

Doomsday Ark

Guass Pylon

So as far as the tactics goes, Guass and sentry pylons would DS near enemy unit lay down the fire and guass will target priorities. Doomsday ark support the pylons by laying down long range shots, Stalker would position itself and start shooting priority targets for either the pylons or the doomsday arks. Scarabs would go after objectives and the barges would support scarabs as well as shoot down horde units. My lord pretty much sat in the back and took any objective near him but would otherwise remain in cover. Overall the strategy was sound however i felt like the sentry pylons just too random to really support the guass pylon. So i think going with the Canoptek Sentinels is the better way to go. D6 shots but each one being at 3 damage plus i needed a unit that can be aggressive and charge to tie up back row units. Tell me what you think.

thanks

Why not just drop the two sentry pylons and run a second Gauss Pylon?

Its a nice thought but the two pylons cost 370 i would still need to get rid of another 100+ pts to fit in another gauss pylon. One was more than enough, i just felt that if i would of had more aggressive unit on my opponents back field that would be not only more pressure on them but units that could tie up other units.

Swap the Sentry Pylons for a Tesseract Ark or Tomb Sentinel? I find them to be worth the points.

Toholk greatly benefits Mech heavy armies, as he can actually buff them, while also giving a significant advantage to going first, with his reroll failed seizes. Getting the alpha strike with that much heavy weaponry is bueno. How are you planning on dealing with hordes? If anni barges are your answer I suggest tesla immortals, more shots, which means more proc's, which means more horde dead.

Yes, i made the same conclusion about the sentry pylons and had sentinels but didnt have time to put them together and paint them. i will have them ready and added to this list. I am thinking of dropping the stalker though, granted the reroll one is great but i felt like i need something to being in more firepower. What do you think of bringing Canoptek Acanthrites? if i drop the stalker i can bring in 4 of them, each one bring in 4 atks at S5 AP 3 plus they have -1 to shoot at them. Would help against hoards i think.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Its either that or drop the Barges and the stalker and bring in two Tesseract Arks.

Here is Version.2 of my list:

Spearhead Detachment
Lord - Void Blade

Tomb Sentinels - Gloom prism
Tomb Sentinels - Gloom prism

Canoptek Scarabs -x7
Canoptek Scarabs -x7

Tesseract Ark - Tesla Cannons
Tesseract Ark - Tesla Cannons

Doomsday Ark
Doomsday Ark

Gauss Pylon

Sam strategy but now can be more aggressive on the back field with the sentinels DS and shooting on 4's and then charging into combat. The Tarks will provide more variety while maintaining survivability and support the Doomsday Arks while the scarabs run to claim objectives and gauss pylon drops and delete units.
