Hey all,

I've been running GK's for a couple years and love terminators. Tried thinking about running a Raptor chapter but it seems they're thoroughly Dakka focussed and I like a mix of combat and shooting which is why I love Terminators (and don't need to paint a load of models).

So been trying to do some list building and I can barely fit together an army that is mobile because you need so half of the army on the ground

Anybody seen anyone run pure DW yet in 8th? If so any good? Or any thoughts about how you think they'd do?

Cheers peeps!

Yeah it can be done. It needs a supporting force though. Because terms need to deepstrike to be useful and you can't deepstrike your whole army - ONLY 50%. So you have to patch them with units that are ether strong enough to not get blown up - because nothing else is going to get shot at - or units that are small and very fast - so you can just hide them and pull them up once the terms come in.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

As someone who plays pretty much just dw and rw the real ball Buster's of the army are the single model elites.

But this edition I would suggest the wombo combo of a lib on a bike, and dw knights+Belial+a banner/apoth and use the lib to cast vail of time to try and get a turn one charge or charge outta deep strike. With the banner it's +1 attack and with Belial it's reroll all hits, combo that with the fact knights don't have a -1 to hit as the cost or 1AP, they can rip through units.

So competitive, no, but if you are lucky ulu can get really big advantages, but you gotta wombo combo them.

To many unpainted models to count.

Wouldn't taking a non-Dark Angels Librarian kinda defeat the purpose of taking an entire Deathwing army? I've run a Dark Angels Librarian on a Bike with some Ravenwing in support of Deathwing, its not too spicy but it can help with Mind Worm and denying.

For the OP, a Deathwing Vanguard Detachment has done very well for me, but its been working in conjunction with another Dark Angels detachment (shooty guys or Ravenwing). I've been tinkering with an all-Deathwing force with Dreadnoughts and a Land Raider as the "foot on the ground", but its early.

Two DW squads (and/or Deathwing Knights) teleporting in with Belial and an Ancient can be devastating, and going second is not such a big deal.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

Yeah but vail of time and might of hero's is FAR better then the dark angels powers

Vail of time, always attack first, even if charged, and reroll charges

Might of heros +1 S T A on model with 2 wounds and a 2+/3++ yes please

I have tried doing a full deathwing and it's hard because of point cost and unit slots. Full deathwing I can see working is dreads and LR. Can't really be done effectively sub 1500 points though

I've just done a 2 Vanguard Detachment list that I'm probably going to submit to the list forum to see what people think but basically it'll be several DW terminator Squads a DWK squad a Land Raider Crusader a couple HQ's and 2 Devastator squads with Lascannons. I feel like it's got possible legs for an almost pure DW list.

I was thinking that the point of running an entire Deathwing army was to run a pure Deathwing army, so taking an outsider Librarian would spoil the point. No argument, though, that the Space Marine Librarian powers look tempting.

No a lib is totally fluffy for deathwing you can take one in Terminator armor. They have the deathwing rule and a long standing history of working with the deathwing in space hulk same with chaplins

The point here is that the librain should not be a DA librain due to the different powers available to the standard Codex marine librains. But this rather defeats the purpose of a fully Death wing force.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
