Subject: Space Wolves, 2500pts - is this viable?

Hello all!
First post here on Dakka. I've recently made the - somewhat poor timed given the state of things (delays on Book VIII, 8th edition 40K release hype, etc) - decision to take the leap into 30K. I started out listening to the audiobooks as it was a reliable and very long series with tons of material for long painting sessions while I was getting my 40K army finished, and a combination of hype for the setting and coming across a reasonably priced job lot of 2nd hand stuff on Facebook had me very irresponsibly pulling the trigger. Well, that, a few beers and a load of nostalgia for the first army I ever built (ans subsequently sold) back 12 or so years ago.
I made some excited follow-up purchases (Russ and Wolf-Kin, a Heavy Support squad and a bunch of MkIII power weapons) and chopped up a lot of the Marines I'd received and built this army list. Can anyone say if this is going to be viable, or I'm going to get completely stomped if I ever get all this rout painted and on the table? Is there anything glaring you'd suggest switching out? And would this list still be viable in 2000pts (dropping Russ and the Wolf-Kin)? Thanks in advance for the feedback!
HQ:
Centurion - Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon - 65pts
Priest of Fenris, Caster of Runes - 105pts
Priest of Fenris, Speaker of the Dead - 105pts
Elites:
Contemptor Dreadnought - Twin-Linked Lascannon, CCW - 200pts
Legion Terminator Squad (x5) - Tartaros Armour, Sergeant with Volkite Charger/Power Weapon, 1x Heavy Flamer, 3x Combi-Bolter, 4x Power Fist - 212pts
Transport: Spartan Assault Tank, Armoured Ceramite, Flare Shield - 370pts
Troops:
Grey Slayers (x20) - Huskarl with Great Frost Blade, 3x Power Weapons, 1x Power Fist, 15x Bolter - 295pts
Grey Slayers (x10) - Huskarl with Twin Lightning Claws, 3x Power Weapons, 1x Power Fist, 1x Heavy Chainsword, 4x Combat Shield - 180pts
Transport: Deimos Rhino - 35pts
Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (x10) - Sergeant with Power Weapon/Volkite Serpenta, 1x Plasma Gun, 1x Missile Launcher, 7x Bolter - 215pts
Heavy Support:
Legion Heavy Support Squad (x5) - 5x Missile Launcher - 160pts
Lords of War:
Leman Russ - Wolf Kin of Russ - 555pts
Total:: 2497pts
The idea is pretty simple. Russ, Wolves and Terminators fire across the board in the Spartan to go punch some stuff in the face, along with the Rhino full of CC equipped Grey Slayers. The big blob of Grey Slayers are foot slogging, but have greater numbers and boltguns to compensate. The Legion Veteran Tactical Squad I plan on making Tank-Killers or Snipers depending on the situation and are my more flexible, shooty unit.
The Heavy Support Squad add a little extra inexpensive anti-armour to the mix, and boots on the ground seemed an all-around fluffier choice for the Vlka Fenryka than another vehicle. Between the 5 Missile Launchers, the potentially Tank-Killer Veterans, the 6 Lascannons on the Spartan and Twin-Lascannons on the Contemptor, I'm hoping I've brought enough tank hunting. I figure Russ and his Terminators can smash some big guys and the Grey Slayers can take care of the infantry.
The most obvious criticism I can level myself is the choice of Tartaros terminators, given the fluffier Varagyr option. My reason for that, in advance, is simply that I got the Tartaros guys with my job lot and I have them already. Aside from that, I hear the sculpts for FW Varagyrs are finished and I'd rather wait on some official FW models before going that way.

I miggt have missed it, but whats your Rite of war? If you're taking russ, might as well use the RoW that allows russ as an HQ. See that you want take vets as troops. If thats the case, id drop your centurion, he's kinda pointless.
Youre hurtting on anti-air
The contemptor's load out is odd, i. Guessing that you only own
a lascannon for it. Lots of people dislike the Varagya termis due to there prices and onky having 1 wound, but ive had succes with them.
But honestly, this list looks fine and is probably fun to play with and aganst. Hopfully your opponests wrote there lists with the same ideas in mind.

Keep the Centurion, as he satisfies the compulsory HQ requirement.
You can't take PotL as Space Wolves, as it requires you to take terminators or veteran tacticals as compulsory troops. You can safely play this list by moving the VTS to the Elites section and not taking a ROW.
I'd opt for something different to the missile squad and an apothecary for the 20 man tacticals.
This can be done by removing the special weapons on the 20 man squad and just buying bolters.

Yeah, this is my bad, total goof. The Veterans should be Elites. I'm right in saying you only need 2+ Compulsary Troops, right? It was my intention originally to run Pride of the Legion, assuming that it meant I could take Veterans as an additional troops choice, but I'm realising now that's not really the case, and in any case, I think I'm fine with just 2x Grey Slayers as my troops anyway? Given the army layout, I think I'd likely take The Bloodied Claws as my RoW.

Damn, that's a really good observation. What're the rules regarding flyers in 7th Edition? I quit in 4th Edition and only came back to 8th Edition, so I'm a little sketchy on some of the 7th Edition rules. Should I maybe consider finding 50 points somewhere and adding Flakk Missiles to my missile launchers?

Yeah.. that's pretty much the reason. I'm not 100% adverse to ripping the arms off again and seeing about magnetising some other options though. I went for Lascannon because it seemed like an easy enough way to add some more anti-armour, which my list was lacking originally. What's the general consensus on Contemptor loadouts? Is it weird that I've gone for an expensive shooting weapon and a CCW? Should I basically either commit to cheap and versatile with Assault Cannon or specialised in shooting or CCW??

If I move the Veterans to Elites, I can still take another Rite of War though, right, just not Pride of the Legion? You're right about the troops thing though, that's my bad, total goof. I was planning on running my Speaker of the Dead (pretty much Apothecary) with the 20-man unit of Grey Slayers. I heard that having a Speaker of the Dead on a heavy weapons squad makes them quite hard to remove, and that was originally my plan.. but having one of each type of Wolf Priest is just way more exciting from both a fluff and a model standpoint that it's hard to make the 'smart' call. The power weapons on that unit aren't super expensive though, it's only +5pts for a power weapon (+10pts for the fist) vs the +2pts for a Bolter - dropping the Power Weapons/Power Fist basically saves.. 17pts, and I think the added versatility of an extra 6 power weapon attacks and 2 power fist attacks is worth those upgrades.
Thanks again for the feedback guys!

Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

I like this list, personally I always like more AA but my buddy swears by massed twin-linked weapons and he gets by fine. In 7th edition, Flyers can only be hit by weapons on a roll of 6 unless that weapon has the skyfire rule.
I think that minus russ from the mix and the list could prob still do well at 2000. I agree with the other posters that recommend an apothecary for the 20 man.
The competitive player in me wants to say that you don't have much that can for sure take down a flare shielded Spartan before it brings its cargo to you, but the fluffy player in me loves the mixed squads of footsloggers your bringing
