Hoookay... Now that we know that Codex: Craftworlds will follow up on the Admech codex, I thought that it'd be nice to have a separate thread for discussing it. Do any of the venerable rumormongers have an inkling about its contents? Will it be new rules and Death Masque Eldrad only? Will we finally get some plastic aspect warriors? Discuss!

Probably just new rules and plastic Eldrad. I wouldn't expect much else for the early codices, apart from SM and DG, who got new units in the DI box that acted as a gateway to their new miniature lines.

Just so we're not getting too crazy:
We know that Craftworlds will be one of three that follow up from AdMech.
Tyranids, Craftworlds, and Guard are the next three. I don't think they gave a specific list.

Elder desperately need plastic Aspect Warriors.
Will they get them?
A roll on the Sisters of Battle probability dice says unlikely.

There will be nothing new. Just new rules that will probably suck with 7 point avenger shurikens still included.
It really is sad - but all the codex are already printed and can't be changed - they weren't even play-tested . They are just releasing them willy nilly.

I think we can expect to see some things that were missing from the index. Classic psyker powers *cough*Eldritch Storm*cough*, relics, hopefully Black Guardians,
What I'm hoping for are some point adjustments and fixes on the falcon, battle focus, dire avengers, and wraithknights.
I'm also curious if they'll include Ynnari in this codex. If so, I'm hoping for some more flexible HQ options.

This is pretty pessimistic considering how great the Chaos codex was. Nearly every unit that was seen as weak was buffed in some way, the number of models that aren't usable is pretty low now.

To be fair, 7pts is the appropriate cost for the Avenger cat since Autarchs can take them. It's the same reason that Dark Reapers are only 5ppm, but their Launcher is 31pts.
The real change that needs to happen is to make DAs only 3-5ppm.

It will depend on what (if any) actual new Craftworld releases there will be. I remember Jes Goodwin for example saying for a past wave of releases that he had always wanted to redo the Jetbikes but he was given only a limited number of new kits to release and he had to choose between the Wraithknight or the Jetbikes and so he chose the Wraithknight. The Jetbikes ultimately had to wait for the next edition.
For every thing redone, that might mean less opportunity for new stuff.

Plastic Aspect Warriors? How about getting regular basic transport like Wave Serpents back in stock? Can't find any NIB at a reasonable price I've had to buy assembled second hand models since they're what's available. Almost went Ynarri just because I would be able to buy NIB Raiders. Makes it tough when you're building a force.

I expect no new models. I don't think we'll be seeing any new stuff that isn't Primaris or Death Guard for a long time.
Craftworld "tactics" are probably in- it should be interesting since there are only a few iconic Craftworlds (Ulthwe, Biel-Tan, Iyanden, Saim-Hann).
More Eldar specific powers.
Points drops across the board.
WL Traits and Strategens.
I think that's the best we can hope for.

I would love for there to be plastic aspect warriors, but these codex releases are coming too hot and too fast. We knew about a lot of the Death Guard stuff months in advance, even before the Dark Imperium set. We haven't a whisper of a big Eldar release. My thinking is they're going to get nothing, just like Tyranids, Admech, and Militarum :\

So far, every codex has had a new rules only character (SM Lieutenant, GK Grand Master in Dreadknight, Exalted Champion). I wonder if Eldar will continue that trend. And if so, how?

Death Guard and Ad mech are in September, with many new DG kits.
Necromunda is in November.
CWE, Nids and IG are to be released before the end of November.
If Necromunda is late November, and the DG release is done by mid-October, there could be a spot for new kits late October/early November, so one of the three codex might get lucky. It's unlikely to get more than a plastic eldrad, but there is still a little bit of hope.
I'm mostly eager to see the new psychic powers. CWE already has a lot of variety with 9 powers, and if it follows the previous trend they should go up to a whooping 18.
I've always been surprised by the lack of "witchfire" powers, and I suppose it's because it could become too powerful if someone were to spam cheap warlocks (every spammable psyker has a nerfed smite for that very reason). I'd really like them to include new offensive power, and come up with a way to restrict them to non-Ynnari CWE, mostly as a way to balance CWE and Ynnari.
Although I suspect the CWE/Ynnari balance (if it indeed comes) will be in the form of Craftworld tactics that are lost when going Ynnari.
And slightly off-topic, how are you guys planning to play, WYSIWYG-wise, with the new Craftworld tactics? If you painted your army to be in the colors of a specific craftworld, are you going to stick to the corresponding tactics, even if it ends up being very different than what you'd like to play?

I haven't heard or seen anything at all apart from the November date being announced. With all the focus on power armour at the moment, I would be surprised if we get anything significant.
GW have implied they are moving to de-couple codices from new model releases to some extent (Primaris and DG being an exception since they tie in with the new starter set). This means that new models will come with their own rules and will likely come with "Warzone" style books. This good in some respects as it frees up GW's resources to get Codices out as fast as possible without being constrained by plastic manufacturing capacity. The down side is that I suspect we will be stuck with the existing resin Aspect Warriors for a while yet.

Is it.... I don't really see how a Avenger Catapult is worth that much.
I don't really see why they bothered to make this annoying point system anyway.

Regarding the Avenger Catapult, is it really worth more than three times as much as a 2pt Storm Bolter?
The Storm Bolter lacks Rending, sure, but it also has +6" of maximum range and gets twice as many shots as the Catapult at 12".
Regarding the Autarch, he's already pretty pricey (when you consider how feeble he is), does he really need to overpay for weapons on top of that?
It's bad enough that he can't even get a melee weapon worth a damn (unless he's on a bike).
