Finally got the arithmetic to work with big Archaon, guess the new points values helped. What do Fatesworn players think of this with the big guy? Too many points in him? Definitely tough to fill out 9 mortal tzeentch units with 700 points in the general.

100 Fatesworn Warband (Warscroll Battalion)

700 Archaon (General)

100 Lord of Chaos (the one on foot with reaperblade)
250 Manticore Lord (flail and shield)
160 Sorcerer Lord on Steed (runestaff)

180 Chaos Warriors x 9 w shield and hand weapon, hornblower, icon (battleline)
180 Chaos Warriors x 9 w shield and hand weapon, hornblower, icon (battleline)
180 Marauders x 27 w shield and axe, damned icon, tribal banner, drummer (battleline)

Or is better to do a bigger unit of 18 Warriors along with 1 unit of 9 Marauders and another unit of 2 Spawn? Then the Manticore Lord can buff all the Warriors at once? I'm looking to hold my own at the next tournament I go to. Recently I played five games in 2 days with little Archaon and 2 Hellcannons (plus buff characters).....lost 3 games out of 2, not the worst I've done but not great. I think the big Marauder unit, though with poor saves, is good bubble wrap for the Stormcast alpha strike crap with Starsoul Maces, but perhaps 18 Warriors is even better with runeshields? Plunking down my whole battalion at once would help me go first too wouldn't it? That's usually good I think. Guess I need some tactical advice as well.

Drop the Lord of Chaos on foot then make the Manticore Lord your general; you'll loose the Lord of Chaos' command ability but gain a command trait which will be just as useful and gives you 100 points to play around with.

Use 60 of these to get a unit of 9 marauders to fill out the battalion, and 20 to beef out the larger marauder unit to 36 (thanks to the massive unit discount making it just 200 for 40). This puts you a hair below 2000, which is a good place to be since it nets you a triumph roll against opponents with 2000 exactly.

Ooh, nice! I never thought of making Archaon not the general. The other stuff generals can get are so good. Forgot about the new big unit discount too, that's actually really helpful now.
