Hello dakka

Here are some tutorials I've written. I'm still working on the format so any feedback would be welcome.

Thanks

Hey

I like that the pictures are very clear and very well lit.

But i feel a few sentences here and there to get inside the mind of the painter could help?

RIght now it feels more like a bunch of WIP pictures.

Thanks for the reply.

I wrote a bunch of tutorials last year on a different website
(mostly for the now defunct marvel miniature line :( ) and found myself repeating myself a lot. I'm not much of a writer and spending time thinking of things to say added a lot of time to an already time consuming process.

With these tutorials I wanted to keep things simple as I planned on a couple a week. Perhaps fewer but with more explanation would be better?

Well, one idea i had that you could do so you dont have to repeat yourself is just limiting yourself in explaining one unique feature per model. For example: on the wonder woman you could have a paragraph explaining the thought process och painting nmm, on the morgan miniature you could explain the leather effect.
That is something i would enjoy atleast.
Right now its the viewer that has to do all the work in figuring out what he is supposed to do.

That is, if you want to have something deeper and more educational.
If you want to keep it light with just step pictures thats fine too.
I only speak for myself in what i personally would appreciate.
But i do appreciate your step pictures too.

Hi Cocky,

Some more commentary on the technique or specific areas to apply the paint would make it easier for me to follow. It might be obvious to more experienced painters what you are doing (and fine if that's who you want to aim tutorials at) but I wouldn't be able to copy what you are doing without a bit more explanation.

e.g. at the end of the Green Lantern guide it says "Black clothing - shade glaze black"; do I apply the glaze all over the black area to dull the white highlights or just in the recesses?
