I'm looking for some advice on how to make a TDA focused list work in 8th edition. My plan is to run a Mortarion + 2 or 3 units of Blightlords, but general advice is welcomed. I've considered the following things: I need a tough anchor for my 50% of my army that starts on the table, TDA is slow, so I need to make them faster or harder to kill. What is your advice to make a decent list, for drop by games at my FLGS, based around TDA?

In your case use Alpha Legion Cultists and infiltrate them as a meat shield.

For making Terminators work it depends. I use anything to get rerolls on charges and it's worked pretty okay for me.

Some thoughts:
- blight-hauler could help foot-slogging termis against heavy weapons
- surgeon improves DR safe
- Blightbringer helps a little against slow movement
- as usual with CSM-Termis: Blightlords with Combiplasma make for some nice Deep strike - Combine it with Termilord for overcharge. Due to our Chapter-tactic you could even decide to strike 18" away to not get countercharged immediately.

I'm having the idea myself and would use a couple units of allied Oblits, too. Even though they are not really TDA, their rules are actually the same and I usually proxy some with Terminators .

While it may be an alpha legion based army, i plan on using a nurgledaemon detachment with a decent amount of nurglings as the anchor. The nurglings give area control and are deep strike offsets allowing you to deploy your termies via deep strike first turn, or in alpha legion case, forward operatives

I'm considering Mortarion. I want to bring him, and he is very scary and killy, but 475 will buy me Haulers, Blightbringers, and another squad of Terminators. He fits weirdly in our army, since only our fast attack can hope to keep up with him.

If I don't bring Mortarion, my list will probably look like this:

Battalion

HQ

Typhus

Plaguecaster

Troops

3x 10 man Cultist squads

Elites

2x Blightlord Terminators: 5x Combi-Plasma and Bubonic Axes

1x Blightlord Terminators: 10x Combi-Bolter and Bubonic Axes

2x Blightbringers

Fast Attack

2x Haulers

If I do bring him, it will be the same minus the Blightbringers and the second Combi-Plasma.
