Hi everyone,

I ordered a Sokar Stormbird and I want to build an army around it in 2000-point games. I'm open to play chaos as well as loyalists. (In power level, the chaos version is superior.)
What is the best I can do with this pricey transport vehicle ?

I could put my entire army in it (the remaining 1000 pts), but what units? Primaris Hellblasters maybe?

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

I personally think having a gunline army sit in it's cloak of 4++ whilst it throws out it's own dakka is your best option.

This is the list I'm going to try with it:

I think you can't really use it as a transport in such low point games, it's far better as a support vehicle at this level.

I have to admit, I think the Thunderhawk is probably a better unit (even though the Stormbird is a lovely model). While it has a small transport capacity, it packs more punch.

True, but the chaos sokar is a lord of war, whilst I think the chaos thawk is just a flyer battlefield role. That matters because the flyer doesnt count as a "surviving unit", just like unmanned buildings.

Id sllit your other 1000 points 50/50 between a gunline you can start hovering near and protect with dreadstrikes and reaper fire, and offensive stuff to deploy either from the stormbird or via teleport. Terminators strike me as a nice characterful option.

Thanks for for the answer.
(The thunderhawk is also a LoW)

I just realized that FW units can be Death Guard (or Thousand Sons).
I think the flyer could be use as a bomb in the enemy line, since DG has a stratagem that would make it explode without rolling when it dies. 2d6 mortal wounds at 2d6'' around it... that's brutal!

Maybe also 20 cultists + 20 poxwalkers (=200pts) with some psykers. Turn 2 they disembark, the cultists charge something and die. With the walking dead stratagem, the pox walkers would become about 40. With FNP 5+ and a 4++ from the Stormbird, they would be hard to deal. With Typhus and the appropriate spell, they would be s5 and t5. With Mortarion added to the party, you still have 155pts left.
