They have said that there will be points adjustments to every army in the upcoming Chapter Approved. What units do expect to see point changes(whether increases or decreases)?

Many units that have receive a Codex but not enough buffs, like Grey Knights and Admech units. CSM and C:SM in the other hand have receive pretty good codexs that have buff many of the worse units, but theres always room for improvement.

I wouldn't expect too much honestly. Look at the General's Handbook 2017 for some ideas. Some factions that are going to have releases further out may get a few filler abilities and such to tide them over. Factions with a codex will get some updated points values and probably nothing else.

Tau commanders and suits more than likely. I'm just not familiar with a lot of the points values currently. I know Tau has some issues as do Marines and Guard, but Guard will likely be addressed in their codex.

I am hoping for more "generic" relics and stratagems for armies to use, things that will help any force. I feel bad when I play nids and I get all these cool sm stratagems and some sweet relics on my guys and they get to reroll a single die.

I'm not at all familiar with the AoS General's Handbook. It'd be interesting to hear what all's in that, since, yeah, that's probably about what we should expect.

Going to be Points adjustments, new missions and a few game rules changes (like "Flyer" cant be the only thingon table and cant hold objectives, All troops have ObjSec etc..)

Im expecting it to be mostly those 3 things.

Tau commander slight increase. Crisis suits slight decrease. Drones, some rule changes.


These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I wouldn't mind seeing points rebalancing for the Non-C:SM Space Marines so they can pay the same price for the same stuff that C:SM do (power fists, thunder hammers, etc), unless they will be getting new codexes soon.

It has already been shown that every army is getting Objective Secured for Troops. I don't know if we will see things like faction specific Warlord Traits or Relics in there (maybe 1-2 per faction), but that is possible as well.

Honestly, the problem I have is that everything I would want it to have is just something that a codex is supposed to have, which means it probably won't be in there.

Kataphrons need a points drop, a rather large one. Skitari need a one point drop (even after the new codex hits). Kastellen robots need a couple points drop each.


Grey knights: Terminators need a 5 point dop, all power armor guys need a 2 point drop, Flacions need a 1 point INCREASE, heavy weapons need a slight point drop (3 or 4 points each). The Librarian needs to be fixed so that he can fully utilize Smite.

Hopefully the base prices of transports will see points drops across the board excluding the gunboat ones like Taurox Prime, Razorbacks, etc. Transports as a whole are over costed.

Ork shooting weapons/units in general are extremely bad because GW doesn't understand how math works so pricing weapons like its going on a space marine doesn't work when its a BS2 Ork using the thing (also negative to hit modifiers are disproportionately brutal to an army of BS2). But honestly Orks are a great example of an army that shows the foundational issues with 8th edition's ruleset and points adjustments won't fix their overall issues.


All non Commander Tau battlesuits need a base price drop. Markerlights are generally worse than before so its rare to be hitting better than on 4s while the idea of making suits more durable (and thus jumping up their points cost) doesn't really work when players want more dakka (if you can't shoot them to death then the enemy charges into your face and murders you). Commander suits math out so much better than Crisis because once again GW is bad at understanding numbers. Riptides are just so meh now that markerlights are not what they use to be.


Less to do with points adjustments but I honestly really dislike 8th and find it really hamfisted and oversimplified at the cost of fun.

Hopefully they hold true to their word and adjust the points on the broken FW stuff, so its not an auto-include as it is now.

Fallen Need access to vehicles.. right now we gotta footslog, be nice to have another HQ option beside cypher as we can only field the Vanguard as our only "troops" are elites.

They said every army without a codex will get some new rules. Hopefully this will contain at least a few specific things (not just a few relics that any army can get).

For harlequins, neuro-disruptors and kisses are pretty bad and need a huge point drop or a change in how they work.
The death jester needs a complete re-write, as a point drop won't help him feel a specific role.
Haywire cannons are also completely useless at the moment.

Most everything in the Necron list can have it's points shaved 10-20% (except the Pylon), specific models could be 50% and still not be useable. Necron's should become immune to morale checks. Gauss should get AP -3 against vehicles or something similar.

Necrons could use a rework. Gauss doesn't do enough, and RP is somewhat flawed.

My beloved necrons ... Oi, plenty of threads about why they need a rework all over points and abilities.

The handbook will probably be point adjustments and maybe a few CT abilities for certain factions if we are lucky. I would expect ziltch for any codex released before then though.

I'm hoping for nerfs more so than buffs, if I had to guess there are more units that are above average performers than bellow.

All the Primarch's need point increases, especially Bobby G.

Stormravens and Razorbacks need a price increase.

IG need a ton of nerfs that I hope they get in their codex.

Finally, as a whole FW needs to get their gak together and fix the indexes they wrote in half an hour.

On a sidenote: I really wish GW would change most auras to a single unit buff. Seeing 2000 point armies bunched within 6 inches and not ever move is just sad.
