Heyo all.

So I am the GM of a small Path to Glory campaign in a small group of friends, and I've taken it upon myself to design scenarios that are workable for 3-person games for now, but are more than just a big rumble or one side waiting to sweep the survivors of the other fight. One idea that I'm toying with is something of a "hunt" scenario in a ruined temlpe/city, where victory points are awarded based on how many 'monsters' that a player can eliminate. But what I'd like to do is add an element of the unknown to the scenario with some random monster tables, so this is what I'm thinking:

Board setup is a very terrain-dense board, preferably with ruins and many tall/multi-level structures. I would not use the normal terrain rules in this case.

On the board would be 10 markers that would trigger once a unit got within 6" of them. Otherwise, the markers will move semi-randomly, either with a scatter dice, or in the direction of noise caused by fights or firing/spellcasting. Once a marker is exposed, roll a d6:

1-3: Standard enemies
4-6: Monstrous foe

Standard enemy table (d6):
1 - Nothing, was just rats (that aren't Skaven)
2 - 2d6+3 Witch Aelves
3 - 2d6+3 Chaos Marauders
4 - 3d6+5 Zombies
5 - d3 Chaos Spawn
6 - d3+3 Ironjaw Brutes

Monstrous foe table (d3):
1 - Jabberslythe
2 - Kharybdis
3 - Swifthawk High Warden

For the player that gets the final wound on a spawned unit, they claim the victory points (1 point for standard enemies, 3 for monsters).

What I need now is some feedback, if this is overtuned or undertuned, and what can improve it. For the sake of a full story, the forces for each player are very small (we're doing a pretty low size capaign), and the complete forces are:

Skaven player:
Arch-warlock
10 Stormvermin
3 Jezzails

Dark Elf player:
Dreadlord on Cold One
10 Black Guard

Death player:
Vampire Lord
3 Vargheists
2 Bat Swarms

Looks interesting. Please post a writeup of how this goes.

6" radius x 10 objectives covers a lot of area. If you want the game to feel more like a hunt i.e. chasing after the markers you may want to make the event diameter smaller. If you want the forces to stumble upon the markers, no matter where they go, leave them as they are.

Sure thing. We had our game today.

I ended up having to tweak the tables a little bit to accommodate for some models that I thought I had, but didn't, but the game itself was pretty solid.

The Skaven and Death forces spent a lot of energy killing each other and trying to deny points to the other, but each wound up with 3, and the Dark Elves managed a better push to the center and won with 4 points.

The spawns were:

The Skaven got the first spawn, and a Jabberslythe at that. But they managed to beat it down very quickly thanks to it fluffing its attacks and the Stormvermin rolling hot. The Arch-Warlock also got a last second kill of some Chaos Spawn he ran into.

Vampires spawned 'ard boyz (had to use them instead of brutes) twice and a massive horde of zombies (18) bit managed to cut them all down. But as said before, they were way more focused on the Skaven then on getting points.

The Dark Elves spawned 'ard boyz, a Bloodwrack Medusa and a small unit of Pink Horrors. They had spanwed a very angry Kharybdiss but the game ended before the fight was over.
