I'm trying to build a decent list to play IG catachans with I just can't find any real info on anyone really using basalisks. Are these actually good/points efficient or are there better options for lower costs.

I'm mainly thinking of running a conscript/guardsmen list that I would hope would be atleast somewhat competitive at local tournaments/leagues. I'm new to the game so I'm not looking to win anything here but competitive tournament play really interests me, so as I build my army I'm trying to gear it effectively.

Thanks.

I'd wait for the codex to drop in the next two months before buying models in bulk for a conscript list. Who knows, maybe they get nerfed into the ground.

I personally wouldn't go for catachans either since lorewise the basic guardsmen of them are already pretty elite. “Rambo-conscripts“ just dont seem right to me...

Basilisk are fine. Good unit. Don't drop money on 200 conscript models with the codex a couple months out though. We aren't sure what the am will look like.

Basalisks vs manticores a lot of people are telling me the manticore does everything better for only a slightly higher cost.

Of course the Manticore is better (unless you require a 5th shot, but I've never been in that situation), but the Basilisk is not that big of a downgrade. The Manticore is actually more point efficient than the Basilisk, although the Earthshaker Platform has them both beat.

One thing a Catachan Artillery Company has going for it is Seargent Harker. He can buff all your artillery at once, without having to pay the ridiculous price on Yarrick.
