Because I couldn't find one...

And because they're still putting out a lot of VERY nice miniatures for this game...

Here we go!

(Sure, some of these may be a bit old but...they're new to me - and probably to you too! )

HADROSS

I didn't get Hadross during the Kickstarter, but I'll be picking them up now!

TEKNES

I did get Teknes during the KS - and I will continue to do so!

GORITSI

Same here - love the Goritsi!

Especially the Alpha and the Mesmer box!

NASIER

Didn't really like Nasier when I first saw them, and I still don't!

Some nice looking miniatures in their stuff, no doubt, just not for me.

SHAEL HAN

I kind of liked Shael Han during the KS, but the budget demanded someone get cut, and they were it.

But now? Especially with these releases? And especially the Celestial Host?!?

I'm in!

Now, if only CMON could solve that pesky distribution problem...

The first two Hadross units look like must-buys to me, The Celestial court depends on price. The Celestial guardians, I'll probably buy for the one amazing lion and tolerate the fugly lion.

Why do they keep showing me awesome minis that are virtually impossible to get on this side of the Atlantic?

Not much easier to get over here. They really need to do a Kickstarter to get better availability.

I really wish CMON would get off their asses and support this game more.

All minis shown so far are available now via CMON's store, but...that's a bit of a dice roll in of itself these days.

I placed an order on 8/25 for all 'in stock' items.

It didn't ship until 9/12.

It didn't arrive until 9/17.

Anyway...

CMON must:

1) Have burned a lot of distributors/retailers in the past
2) Offer awful 'deals' to distributors/retailers now
3) Want to keep distribution in house
4) Wants to cut out the middle man and (almost) only run/prioritize KS
4) Any/all of the above, mix and match

It is ridiculously hard to get WoK or Dark Age stuff in a gamestore, local or online.

CMON's biggest problem in getting WoK and Dark Age out to more people and growing both games is apparently...CMON.

I went all in on the KS but I can't bring myself to pay boutique resin prices for post-KS releases.

My FLGS has about two dozen wave 1 boxes still on the shelf, moving slower than a cheese platter through a retirement community. When I ordered in some Shael Han items, it took months and one of the boxes was the wrong item. WoK is a money-loser for the FLGS.

I think Element Games in the UK are going to start stocking WoK and Dark Age stuff:

http://elementgames.co.uk/wargames-and-miniatures/fantasy-miniatures-games/dark-age

CMON seem to have sorted out a UK distributor, but I think it's still early days. I've got a load of Teknes stuff which I got from ebay that I haven't even glued together yet because the player base seems almost non-existent at the moment.

Thanks for putting this together Alph. I stumble into the CMON shop every so often - thanks Dark Age! - and have been really impressed with the later waves of WOK stuff. Found this dude yesterday:

Hadross has probably some of the most useful stuff IMO (for Kings of War's Trident Realms line ), though I do love those Goritsi wolves, even with all the steampunk backpacks going on

That tiger man tho!

cmon is so bizarre. they go to all of the trouble to make these great minis and then go to just as much trouble to make them hard to find.
i think they were neglected as children and just hate to give up their toys.
i really like this game and there is so much in this thread that i wasnt even aware that existed.

thanks aleph!

I'm sure it was no trouble at all to make them hard to find.

Though, to Wrath of Kings' credit, I have actually seen it available places. Dark Ages, however, I'm convinced is some imagined prank of a kid with a copy of Photoshop, too much time, and too little love from his parents.

The minis look great, and Element Games are right near the top of my preferred retailer list, so this is great news. Not sure I've got space for another game right now, but I'll be looking long and hard at the range for possible proxies or just becauses.

Wrath of kings is such a great game... it's too bad releases are sooo slow. Just ordered all the hadross stuff. The character pack was delayed months.

Still waiting on the Sharl Han tiger character pack.

It used to be easy to find (even new models) wok on ebay, miniature market, and many other online retailers. It appears they don't or can't get anymore of the new wok models.

Still a great game.

I agree with Azrael13, if ElementGames start to selling this stuff, I can see myself buying a bunch of very cool minis, but the 100% are gonna be "count-as" for other systems (Just like my Mierce stuff)

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Anyone know of a Canadian retailer that is carrying or planning to carry the releases? All the current ones have only old releases or have been out of stock for ages. I don't mind ordering from cmon directly but for some reason every order from them get hits by customs fees (the only place that does oddly).

Try Meeple Mart!

There are times when - because of the exchange rate - I wish they'd ship to the USA.

But they don't.

I'm in the same boat as many here. I'd love to get my hands on more WoK minis, but the combo of "hard to find at retail" and "boutique resin prices for PVC minis" means I haven't bought anything since the Kickstarter.

Damn, those are some really good looking models! Now this is how you make an impact on a niche market.

Also very impressed with the ideas of some of them. The Shellcrackers, way cool!

Yeah Meeplemart is great but they are if the afore mentioned stores that do not have new releases and have been out if stock of most WoK stuff for ages.

Might try seeking a uk store.

Let me add to the echo chamber of frustration with this game.

I absolutely adore the models, even the factions I don't have any interest in collecting. They're all very imaginative and unique, and the material holds detail well enough.

Hadross releases have especially been great this past batch, and like many I can envision quite a lot of other uses for them outside of WoK proper.

At this point if they aren't going to bother getting serious with supporting this game, maybe they'll just do another kickstarter?

If their two current tabletop games are having a hard time finding support, it certainly doesn't bode well for their Game of Thrones game when the time comes...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I was initially hopefull when Element Games put up the new stuff as not in stock but coming soon,

but as the weeks keep going by with nothing showing up it begins to look more and more like whoever are distributing it to them are as useless as the previous one

and I wonder how long it will be before they give up on it again?

I wonder if they only make the minis in between their KS projects runs, and there's only space after a KS has basically failed to do as well as expected ?

That might explain why restocks make the early days of Xwing look like a time of plenty

I think CMoN going all GW with max discounts allowable has hurt the distribution network too. More shops might carry it if they could discount it enough to get an initial surge of patrons to purchase into the game.

WoK is a game that really needs the discounts, too. Too many of the boxes come with some great models and some poor models but are priced like every model is amazing. Makes it hard to justify a purchase.

Are the rules for this game any good?
And for Dark Age?

I think the biggest problem with these wargames is that they are very difficult to find in retail, especially on the brick and mortar store shelves... I saw both of these games in a shop a week ago, and I was amazed by this fact.

I love the minis, but the prices are too steep for an unpopular game. about 65 pounds for the starter and the same goes for faction starter sets - that`s waaaay to much, especialy when there is malifaux and 40k on the next shelves providing more minis for a smaller price (Get Started, crew boxes) + they are 1000 times more popular, so you might actualy find someone to play with other, than a single local enthusiast.

Edit: Kickstarter`s not a way to go for a wargame, unless its it`s first appearance, or the company is small. It won`t stick to the player base. Infinity is as big as it is not because of KS, but because they put minis into retail shops, so people see their stuff, and because they did hard work forming a community of dedicated players withh all the tourneys and campaigns. But here we have CMON.

I'm a rookie in terms of WoK, but the rules for Dark Age are great - a really good, fun skirmish scale game.

Yes, there are a lot of status effects to keep track of, but it isn't difficult, and usually different builds won't have *too* many at their disposal...

Good lookin' minis. Like most games, I'd get them if you like them - I don't see this game long for the market.
