Hi guys, having had this model since release I've finally dared to put a brush to it, I would just like some thoughts and was also wondering if anyone had used the gem stone paints on this model or if I should do them old school style, if people have used the gem stone paints how would you go about making her not look like a Christmas decoration haha.
Sorry about the side on pic, iPhones for you

She looks pretty darn good. No advice on the gem paints. Never used them.

The gemstone paints from GW are basically the same as the clear Tamiya paints. They are shiny and semi-transparent. For that reason it is advisable to have gems painted with matching regular colours, similar to the old school method, before you apply the gem paint.

What I do for red gems is paint the whole gem in a sand colour and put a darker brown round dot in the top right or top left. When you look at that it should look like a dark spot where the light would be. When you then cover the whole gem with the gem colour, you'll have the room light reflected on the top, giving you the white spot you previously painted in.

That sounds like an interesting way of using them stephanius, do you have any pictures you wouldn't mind sharing?
