I don't see where it says you can't cast psychic abilities in cc. So could you use gate to teleport 9.01"away from the unit you are engaged with shoot and charge again?

Yes, Gating out of CC is a common tactic. You can already leave combat, and there are no restrictions on casting while in combat.

That's insane and in my opinion makes gate an auto take on strike squads. Not to mention objective grabbing

Just remember, in Matched play, you can only attempt a given power once per turn (except Smite).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Is that per unit or the whole board?

I think if you gate out, or walk out of combat, its still leaving combat, so unless you have rules that allow you to shoot and charge after leaving combat. You cannot.

There are no rules for 'leaving combat'. There are rules for 'Falling Back'. Gate of Infinity never says the unit counts as Falling Back.

Lungpickle,
While I agree that 'leaving combat' should be the trigger, it is not.

If a unit Falls Back, it cannot
Advance (see below), or charge (pg 182)
later that turn. A unit that Falls Back
also cannot shoot later that turn unless it
can FLY

- Fall Back,

You may not pick a unit
that Advanced or Fell Back this turn, or
a unit that is within 1" of an enemy unit.

- 1. Choose Unit to Shoot With

A Unit that Gates away from combat did not Fall Back, that is the entirely of the problem!

It's not a problem, it's a feature. Very few units can use it, it has limited availability in matched play, and those units that can use it are already paying to do so.

Though, not sure how often you'd want to do this. More often than not, I imagine, GKs are going to be able to do more damage in CC than at range.

Plus, making that 9" charge is a bit tricky.

Jeffersonian000,
I understand your point, would have no qualms if they gave this Power an exception, and even withdraw my previous point because of something unrelated....
In short - Fly exists, is found on most units that people complain about being able to fall-back from Combat anyway, if so many Fly Units do then what is so bad about one Power granting a weaker version of it to anyone?
Teleport away! If they need a Narrative Reason say the Unit spent 4 years in the warp, more then enough time to get over being in Close Combat and ready themselves to pop out firing!

Still, points I was considering:-
1) Not all games are Matched Play, I am fond of running lists that simply can never see Match Play for one
2) Certain factions can guarantee a 100% chance of seeing this Power, making it only as rare as the Players you are with
3) Other abilities also allow 'warp out of combat,' so this is more then just a single power able to do X

Same as Terminators using a Teleport Homer right? Doesn't count as Falling Back, it's a special move instead. Act normally afterwards. Seems smart to use this power that way!
