Are they considered a good choice overall?
Are they better shooty or punchy?

I'm trying to figure out what i want to use for anti armor and i have a few of these already so i was wondering if they are worth dusting off.

In my experience, they're a good piece all around.

Play them mixed melee and ranged? They'll shoot as they approach, and then charge in for hard damage.

Only melee? They'll be a monsterous threat and an absolute bullet magnet, which is what you want.

All ranged? Congratz, you have a discounted pseudo-Vindicator.

All in all, there's no clear bad way to build a Helbrute, although I will say if you are giving it a specific role, don't mix melee and ranged. If you just want a pubstomping beatstick that can take a few turns of focus fire? It's worth the points.

I'm a fan of the thunder hammer for close combat and either las or reaper autocannon for ranged. Although if you use the fist you can add a heavy flamer.

I like punchy. Dreads are decent in this edition, so any kind you like, go give it a whirl.

I found the Helbrute to be a CINCH to magnetize when I last built one. You don't even have to drill holes for most of the magnets, just glue them on the inside of the main body!
