Friday is finally here and with it comes a brand new Glacial Geek Battle Report! This time my Deathwatch are taking on the Orks! https://youtu.be/0KKmjmH43UY The planet was a loss. The Greenskins had overwhelmed the Imperial defenders and had taken control of the entire planet. The Imperial Navy was being called in to Exterminatus the planet to prevent the Ork menace from spreading. There was one catch. Technology on the planet too sensitive to be left in their Power Klawed clutches. An elite Deathwatch force was dispatched to go in and destroy the technology to keep it out of the xenos hands to make sure it didn't somehow survive. Will the Shield Who Slays be able to prevent the xenos from getting the technology, or will the WAAAGH claim more glitz for Da Boss? Watch and find out!

Cool to see you getting some games at your new haunt! It was an...interesting game, although it ended the only way it possibly could have. That's kind of the thing with Orks right now, they are the meta breakers. A Take-All-Comers list will simply not be able to handle the sheer number of Boyz they can bring, and an army that CAN handle that many bodies will be easily defeated by a highly elite or mechanized force. Add to this things like Da Jump and their practical immunity to morale, and I think Orks are the most underrated army in 8th edition 40k.

Looking forward to more batreps, hopefully a little less one-sided!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I don't think that was an Ork autowin at all. Deathwatch lost two frag cannons before they could fire which is huge. Frag Cannons are THE anti-Ork weapon. Doing 4d6 S6 autohits that kill an Ork Boy with no save every wound is massive. If the Frag Cannons were on the Corvus to begin, it would have been a MUCH different game.
