So I have seen multiple people on multiple forums and threads and sites, say that the best use for some units is to charge and soak up overwatch for a different unit. While this was a viable tactic 7th edition I thought 8E killed that. I don't have my BRB in front of me but I know it says that a unit can overwatch multiple times now and it also states you declare all your charges at the same time. In that case an't your opponent overwatch all of your charging units, so the only way to eat overwatch is to charge one turn then again the next turn, and that's only if they don't fall back.

Am I missing something? At my local game store we have always played it the way I described in that you can overwatch every charging unit as long as you meet the requirements, but if there are rules stating otherwise we'd like to know.

You resolve charges one at a time. If one unit gets within 1" of your target, then that target has models within 1" of it when the next unit charges in - preventing it from firing overwatch.

All charges aren't declared at once, either. The steps are under 'Charge Phase,' and go through the steps a unit at a time.

This is incorrect.

Thanks guys. I thought I recalled reading that all charges were declared at once, and when our FLGS owner said that's how it worked it validated that thought but I guess I was wrong. My buddy has my rulebook so I haven't been able to check. This clears up all my confusion
