I am a Khorne army player and think that the Dark Apostle model really really doesnt fit the theme. What are your thoughts on using something like a AoS Slaughterpriest as a Dark Apostle of Khorne?

That would be my go to option. They're Khornies and priests, plus they look pretty cool. You may want to try tech the model up a little, even if it's only a pistol holster and a couple of grenades, but considering that fleshmetal is officially a thing, there's little reason to worry about all the exposed skin compared to a power armored model.

As far as I can tell, the flat of his thigh is too slim for the MIGHTY GIRTH of a pistol holster for a marine. Should I just trim the edges of the holster with clips?

Which Slaughterpriest did you have in mind? Also, which pistol holster do you intend to use?





If it's a Chaos Marine pistol holster with a cloth behind the holster, then yeah, you may have to do some cutting. Any regular holster from any Marine kit, especially Berzerkers, should fit on the belt fairly well. Keep in mind these guys are pretty tall compared to a Marine.

If you're any good with green stuff and looking at the sword guy, you could try a chest holster. Put the holster there and sculpt a couple of straps to it. Alternatively you could look for jeweler's chains.

I've thought about using that model as well. I picked up a second one since I bitz'd to the other. I can run two apostles if I feel it appropriate lol.

Also worth noting is that the horus heresy chaplain with a few additions makes a wonderful dark apostle. I added the chaos star trophy thing from the csm kit to make his crozius a dark crozius. Add some chains spikes and what have you and he can make a wonderful dark apostle. Also runs for less than ten bucks on ebay, new on sprue.

The Dark Angels got a Company Captain and a Librarian.

I'm not gonna lie, I am certain that at one point in development the Crimson Slaughter were intended to get a Chaos Lord and a Dark Apostle for their corresponding characters.

I suspect the 'not-dark apostle' got downgraded to chosen due to the release of the 'other' official Dark Apostle model (which in fairness is pretty nice)!
