Just finished up an Eldrad today, finished him over a couple of days. Lots of fun to paint and challenged me to paint runes for the first time in a while. Had fun with colours and experimented with inks a bit too. Just brush work on this guy.

Also, snow flock gets everywhere...

Looks great!
You really nailed the fine details and the sword looks amazing!
Snow base looks beautiful.

I would have liked to se a slight more glossy black on the actual armour/helmet to set it apart from the cloth, and show of different materials, but thats really just a matter of taste.

Stunning model. Especially the sword, I've never seen a sword painted like that with grey shadows.
The only thing that looks a bit odd to me are the gems' colors. The one on the helmet is red, while all the other ones are blue, it feels a bit out of place.

Great work. The runes are remarkably crisp and neat!

Thanks! I definitely concentrated on getting those details right in the time I had so I'm glad it paid off ^.^

Yeah I agree on the more glossy idea, I think overall I went a bit nuts with the anti-shine and varnish at the end as well. Next time!

Thank you! With the gems, there are a few other red gems dotted about, though I can't really say why; this was a commission and the guy wanted box art and I just blindly followed. I think more than one colour of gem is needed on this model, but perhaps red vs blue is too jarring.... Hmm..

Looks amazing, I haven't picked this model up yet, waiting for a proper release outside of death masque, any tips on the runes? I was thinking of using the pens people sometimes use, forgot what they are called now

Amazing!

Still think they made a mistake with the assembly instructions for that model though.

With respect to the staff?
I just looked at my model, and I actually have the bottom tip of the staff under the top robe (I seem to remember there's actually an indent for it to fit nicely there), as opposed to above everything else like OP's mini.
Looking at the assembly instruction, it's not clear how it should go, as they show the front of the mini when showing how to assemble the arm with the staff.

Thank you! and ah me too, I was lucky enough to be commissioned to paint this, I missed Death Masque too. Urm I painted my runes on so I'm not sure on pens, never looked into it, but one tip I guess is that I used the Citadel air Abaddon Black to paint runes like this and sometimes even thin it further. It helps it go on smoother I find. Hope that's some help!

Ooh no idea in regards to the building of this model guys, it was a commission and was sent built by the client, so no clue!

It's meant to go under the robes as there is an indent for it, but the order of the instructions means you're adding the staff after closing the two cloak parts together and it doesn't fit through the gap I managed as it was still moveable due to pollycement, but the OP's commission obviously either had the same problem or liked it better that way.

I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but it just brought the memory back looking at the staff here.

I built the plastic Eldrad a while back. It's a real pain in the bum. Did not enjoy building him.
