Hello! I played Khorne Deamonkin back in 7th, and now i'm kinda lost... I basically need help in choosing another csm legion . IK that it would seen obvious to go World Eaters, but I didn't get any basic marines or berserkers. I have a few formations from the old codex and a small amount of khorne deamons, here's everything I have collected for Chaos.

Chaos side of Dark Vengeance
Hq
-Chaos lord w/ pp and power sword
-Exalted Champion w/ pp and power axe
Troops
-20 cultists with one flamer and one stubber
Elite
-Chosen w/ 2xboltgun, powermaul, power fist, lightning claws
-One basic Helbrute (fist and multi melta)

I also have 1 chaos lord and 9 bikers ( 2 plasma units, one melta unit) on horses instead of bikes ( Liked the idea of "deamon steeds for khorne") and a single unit of raptors with 2 plasma guns and a squad of warp talons

For deamons I have
Hq
-Deamon prince
-Herald of Khorne
Troops
-12 bloodletters
Elites
-3bloodcrushers
Fast attack
-10 flesh hounds
Heavy support
-Skull cannon

IDK if I should just hope and wait or try something else, I got into them only a little before 8th dropped. I was interested in night lords, since I have a couple of jump units, Iron warriors, I planned on getting some deamon engines like the forgefiend and maulerfiend anyway, or Alpha legion, seem fun to play with an army of cultist and multiple warlords. I'm still considering World Eaters or full Khorne deamons, just wondering if I should just switch to something that's already out, instead of waiting for something that could possibly be up to a year ahead.

I understand what I have may be hard to work with, so any help or suggestions at all would be much appreciated

Evening,
I only got into wargaming this time last year and have almost the same models as you (with csm and a few bezerkers extra) as i started playing kdk in 7th.
Looking at what youve got you have a nice base to go with whatever you feel like really, grab some beserkers and a rhino or two and youve got the start of a decent world eaters/ alpha legion list or grab some daemon engines and go iron warriors.
It all depends how you like to play really, but youre models are a nice base to go wherever you feel now i think. Personally i went world eaters simply cus the style of play suits me and i have the models, but i enjoy mixing it up with alpha legion or black legion every now and then
Just pick the legion you like the look/fluff/play style of the most and run with that and you cant go wrong
Best of luck

Yeah, the new Legion Traits are not all that powerful. Alpha Legion appears to be the best, with the -1 shooting at Infantry over 12 inches.

With the models you have, I would almost want to say that lines up nicely.

What you may want to consider with those Daemons is a summoning list. I use Bloodletters as a denial unit, I drop them in as a screen while other units do important things. It's an underrated tactic that's sure to improve when Codex Chaos Daemons hits.

So maybe Word Bearers? Worth considering, but understand it's hard to be fluffy with those guys. Depending on how you painted your models, you might not need to repaint stuff.

Never really looked at the summoning mechanic, Thanks for the response

Definitely gunna want to summon in those bloodletters, T3 means they dont last long footslogging over the table, even in a big unit youll striggle to get enough in combat

Yeah. OTOH, they make an excellent defensive screen and present a huge threat to charge. Opponents kind of have to deal with them.

Most of the summoning lists I see right now make use of Horrors - which I just don't like. Bloodletters really need Warptime to guarantee a charge the turn they arrive, which is unfortunate, otherwise I would be summoning in every game.

I played around with summoning as a tactic when 8th edition hit and see the potential, just haven't got around to messing with it again. Funny, at the time I thought to myself this is how KDK lists are going to be run.

One thing to realize is your summoning roll affects how many models you can bring to the table. You don't need to work out a FOC for summoned models beforehand, if you roll well enough you can plop down a single huge unit.

The big thing would be if Codex Daemons allowed you to summon other units besides Bloodletters. Here's hoping!

True enough, they screen pretty well due to their combat potential, i remember a game i playes back when 8th dropped where i used a blob to screen an injured skarbrand from a slightly wounded stompa, got about 15 letters in combat after surviving a round of shooting well enough (started with 25) and skarbrand followed them in, both combined destroyed the stompa in one round of fighting...
I share the dislike of horror lists too, i play against someone who uses one regularly and its just not fun
Your point with summoning is a good one, i always try to have enough points for a squad of 30 with enough instruments or banners for 3 seperate squads due to summoning rolls, as its fully legal now to have 3 banners due to it being "1 per 10 models", though most guys i play never mention it

Bloodcrushers are pretty brutal now too if you can fit them in a list, a good solid fast flanking unit that can actually put out some wounds now, worth thinking about if youre gunna take csm and daemons together
