Hello, anyone got an idea when we can expect the Tyranids code? Anyone hear any rumours?

Thr rumor mill whispers "November", but who knows...

We also heard what the next three codexes will be following the release of Death Guard and Adeptus Mechanicus in September. Astra Militarum is dropping in a couple weeks, then it's a coin toss whether Eldar or Nids get their Codex next. Either way, you won't have to wait long.

Nids have a pretty complete range at this point so I could see them getting a codex release only.

There is scope for some new units for Eldar - maybe some of the fabled Aspect Shrine releases. Howling Banshees and Dark Reapers - actually all the aspect units - desperately need new sculpts IMO (At least Dire Avengers are plastic I guess so maybe not these guys)

Nids need

-A Vore kit to build plastic biovore/pyrovores.
-A Transport bug maybe? Return of the Malecepter?
-A answer to Primarchs with something that gives aura buffs. Retool of the Dominatrix?
-Plastic Hierodule so we have a good knight equivalent.
-A shrike upgrade sprue.
-A new prime kit that allows the model to be a shrike or ravenor prime so it can keep pace with the units it's buffing (and be able to buff ravs).

If your a codex coming this year that isn't an 8th edition new release your (probably) not getting anything model wise. You need to rip off that band-aid right now.

Only 3 of those are actual needs, and you missed plastic Lictors, but either way thats considerably less than a lot of other codexes (Eldar for instance need 2/3rds of their line updated).

Hierodule can wait since we can just re-upgrade the Exocrine, Haruspex, Trygon, Mawloc, Tyrannofex and Tervigon to superheavy status (the first three of which were biotitans at one point).

The MaleFACTOR would be a nice land-based transport but with the Trygon's glory hole there's not much need.

I really don't like the mentality of "DEY GOT PRIMARCH, WE NEED PRIMARCH". Nids aren't suppose to be "bug Imperium", they should be their own thing. Maybe give more buff options to the Hive Tyrants (Old Adversary) that lets you pick and choose buffs instead of putting them all in one uber-character.

I think they should remove the Tyranid Prime altogether and return to the whole "Tyranid Warriors can be taken as HQ as well as other slots" thing from 3rd and 4th. It would give the nids something unique as being the only ones with a squad-based HQ left (not even guard has this anymore). emphasis the swarm nature.

Nids are not supposed to be bug imperium. Nids are supposed to be ever adapting and that means constantly evolving to answer tit for tat and usually bigger and better.

The moment the hive mind meets rowboat it would probably develop an answer to him.

Transports are no longer a must have for 8th. Most lists now revolve around infantry blobs circling characters for aura buffs - shame, I do miss the Rhino car park days of 5th lol.

It would be nice for Nids to get some big LOW centrepiece though. Something Imperial Knight sized would be awesome. Sadly with the quick turnaround of these codexes (including the same cover art even) I doubt they will have any new kits.

Between the two, Eldar are in much more dire need of an update for several units.

I'd like some Biovores so I could stop converting my own out of Hiveguard. Other than that, we need Lictors that aren't finecast crap, and we need the flying version of Rippers if they are still in the codex.

If there's no bits for rippers with wings, then likely they won't be in the codex - wait and see I guess.

I thought the Tyranid answer to Guilliman was to drown him in Genestealers. In fact I thought the Tyranid answer to anything was to basically drown it in minions.
