Needed a change in 40k so decided recently to start orks... pretty fun painting so far. I’m doing five at a time but basing last. Not sure if this is where I post so my bad if it isn’t right

They look a really solid standard for Ork Boyz. Depends entirely on your own personal preference but I feel a hit of colour in there would be nice to make them pop a bit, but if you're after a more gritty look then you've definitely nailed that. Some of the metal is a bit silvery and clean for what I'd expect from Orks but honestly the paint jobs are really good so that negates it. If you ever feel like rusting things up the Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust combination from GW works wonders. I'd recommend drilling out the pistol barrels too since they're so big the flat silver stands out. Or you could carefully paint a black circle if you don't have a drill. Its not as convincing close-up but from a distance it does the job and makes a big difference.

These are really good models though so keep going and keep sharing!

Get those bases done before you make the mistake I did and end up with 30 Imperial Guardsman none of whom have bases done...

Skin, teeth and leather are all really nice (I too would like to know the skin recipe).

Second the comments about the the metal needing to be darkened up a bit and dril the barrels!

I personally love to throw some clan colours on the armour, I like the look of all the checks & dags, but they're your army so whatever style you want and painted to that quality you should get no complaints.

Im still super new to all of this, I’ve played for a little bit now but only as eldar (gasp ewwww lol) . I’m confused on the clan colors you mentions. I went with Goff which is the checks and dashes. And dark grimey clothes.. did I miss something else? I also didn’t put most the boys together cause I bought them in a bit container for a 1 each and just had to glue the heads on and paint so missing some helms and stuff. But after having to buy that many it def saved me some cash.

I’m always up for suggestions and pointers!! I have a lot more painting to do so I’ll post more when I get the chance..

I’m also very bad with identify colors and I’m partially color blind.. I wear black to keep from making bad color matching decisions lol! So YouTube is my friend!! People that post color schemes and paint lists are my hero’s!

Ahh, I hadn't spotted the checks, they're hidden by the weapons in a lot of the photos, that's what I was talking about. Obviously the other clans have different colours (blue white for Deathskulls, RED/yellow for Evil Sunz, etc.)

yea my fault too cause these photos are in progress so missing some of the shoulder pad checks lol. Just picked up two more boxes of boys today to get them to 90 models. Picked up another box of killa kans too cause they are fun to build and paint. So lots of painting to do!!

Looks great to me, keep it up! I like that you use leather, most people paint their Goffs all dressed in black, with white and red accents, but I actually prefer these.

And yea, drill out the barrels!

So I drilled out the barrels.. guys.. I think I love you all haha they look so much better!! When I was finished painting the guns I was disappointed with the flat barrel didn’t even think to drill them out.. so much better!!!
