Hey all

A bit of an odd dilemma. I was looking to pick up one of the old metal Gamesday Wolf Priest models and got successful on eBay. Only £7.50 which seemed reasonable. The only 'downside' is it is still sealed in a blister pack.

I know it isn't really a problem. I'm happy with paying that much for the model so I should probably just open it up and paint it. However, I can't bring myself to do it.

What would you do?

Is your other option to resell it for a profit? Honestly, if you need it, you might as well open it. Otherwise, you'll be back on Ebay looking for the thing you originally wanted, plus you'll have this thing sitting around too.

I totally get what you're saying. So just get someone else to tear that sucker open. I got BNIB set of Kasarkin a couple of years ago for a great price ($35!!!) on eBay, and had to make my wife open it up for me. Even watching her tear the shrink wrap off the box was painful.

This!

Bi'ios that's definitely the answer. I might need to leave the room while my wife does it though.

Nah you are all wrong, opening a blister pack is like opening a new book, or the first bite of a bacon sandwich. Tear it open, relish the feeling of cardboard separating from vacuum formed plastic, then lament on the fact that life won't be as good again until the next time.

My own take on it is rather simple: there is nothing more sad than a model or a miniature sitting in a box or blister. All that little metal guy wants to do is get out and get some murder-make on with his issued tools. It's one of the reasons I really enjoyed building an entire 2nd ed. Eldar army from eBay rescues.

It's pretty cool to imagine that a bunch of the figures in my army started their life in 1992-1993...and may have swapped hands a half dozen times before they got to me - then I stripped them down, gave them a new coat of paint, and a promise of service on the tabletop for the next 10-15-20 years.

Now, the only thing I'll say - do you actually own, play, and intend to keep playing Space Wolves? I wouldn't go opening an old blister unless I was dedicated to the force. I actually ripped open an old Games Day blister for this fella so he could lead my current Chaos Space Marine force:

I didn't "open a blister", I set this cruel bastard free...letting him become the scourge of free space.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

For me, collecting is a hobby on its own, i have alot of unopened blisters i never plan on opening., 100s, I like to look at them as much as i like to look at painted ones.
I rather have it still unopened then for it to have a rushed paint job i am not proud of.
It has happened i bought 2 of one just to keep one sealed.
But then often a painted one i can strip of paint so the prize isnt so bad.

Well I own, paint, and intend to keep painting Space Wolves. I don't really get any opportunities to play. Hope that is still ok

I am in this boat, I have many minis still sitting in their box.

All the boxes have been opened and all the figures have been touched though.
