Probably don't play Dark Elves, Vampires or Daemons.

Don't take stupidly broken item combos like the ring of hotek.

If you play warriors don't bring a giant unit of Chosen with the mark of tzeentch with halberds, with the eye of the gods item on the champion with festus in the unit with the banner of rage and two chaos war shrines next to it.

No Grave Guard bunker with 4 vampires with the Regeneration Banner.

Don't take too many stacked cavalry units.

For the exception of Black Guard, Grave Guard, Chosen and all of the High Elf army, units on foot are pretty terrible. So you could take a lot of units on foot.

Don't take the Tzeentch army of doom with 24+ power dice.

Or my suggestion would be to play 8th, because its a vastly superior game.

Square Bases for Life!
AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K
40K is fantasy in space, not sci-fi

I loved 7th at the time, I would still enjoy it with the right crowd.

A suggestion I have is regarding the magic phase.
Instead of generating Dispel Dice normally, the defender gets a number of dispel dice equal to half the number of power dice the turn player generates.

Oh, and use percentages for army selection instead of unit slots. 8th edition allowed 25% Lords, Heroes and Rare choices, 50% Special and required a minimum of 25% core. I think this actually works against Tomb Kings though so I would say give them a 20% points bonus (or 10% if you are using the 8th edition book).

As a Dark Elf player of old 7th I would say Dark Elf spears must take shield. War Hydra is 220 points. Black Amulet, Pendant of Khaeleth, Ring of Hotek and Sacrificial Dagger are all 55 points each.

Honestly? With the exception of Power Dice generation, ranks needing 5 models to count for bonus, and Insane Courage there was NOTHING about 7th worth carrying on with. Every book was completely blown out compared to its 6th Edition counterpart, and some of those books are LEGENDARY in their imbalance. All of those armies play well enough in 6th, and I'd honestly go back that far instead.

If you ARE going to use 7th Edition rules, I'd at least skip the army books and find a PDF of Ravening Hordes. The most balanced army lists you'll find in WFB.

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

Yeah. 7th edition's primary failing was that the army books became either putrid or just too good.

Daemons, VC, and Dark Elves in 7th or don't bother showing up in many cases.

Ravening Hordes was the best for balance.
