The general Chaos tactics thread is pretty long and jumbled up with all sorts of Chaos stuff, so I figured I'd start a new discussion focusing on just the Emperor's Children (and such). I feel like the Emperor's Children are pretty underrated right now, unlike my poor World Eaters. See this poor thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/737962.page

Also, the new Primaris marines make perfect "true scale" heresy-style Emperor's Children, what with their Chest Eagles and MKIV style helmets. It's also easy to use Aggressors as Obliterators as well, but its a little sad that they both tower over the current terminator figs. Oh well. I also have a whole bunch of old metal 2nd ed Guitar marines that are too small too. :(

With all that being said, I'm looking for 2000 points that will hold up to decent casual competitive play, whats sorts of things should we be looking for in our armies?

- Noise marines put out alot of firepower, have decent CC presence and being able to fire again after death can be interesting.
- Sonic Dreadnoughts from FW put out alot of firepower.
- Obliterators firing twice (and deep striking) is clearly good.

Aside from that, what does an army actually look like? What character should we be taking?

Lucius is pretty cheap, but I'd assume a Sorcerer is mandatory, but would a Demon Prince fare better?

Should we be focusing on Warp Talons and Possessed as well?

This is about as far as I get making an army list:

- Sorcerer
- Demon Prince with Wings
- 10 Noise Marines in Rhino
- 10 Noise Marines in Rhino
- 3 Obliterators
- 3 Obliterators

And that's it. I'm not sure what else I should be looking into. Also, Slaanesh Demons can be pretty spicy too, so maybe I should throw some of them in there?

Thoughts?

For me it's all about keeping the Noise Marines alive. My list tends to have that in mind.

At times my opponents find it hard to concentrate on the Noise Marines when there's 3 Hellbrutes with fist and scourge sallying forth ..

Also, I don't run em but if taking Rhino's, if you drop 1 NM Lucius might be pretty useful if you take him along for the ride?

I haven't found him to be quite so useful with my foot sloggers.

Unlike, say, a D Prince or Slaanesh Lord on Steed.
