Anyone here using Steemit?

Did not find a lot of 40k content there, but did find a number of 40k discussions under other tags.

Probably work

I think I saw a concept similar to this a few years ago under a different name. Overall, the low quality shotgun approach seemed like the direction it was heading at the time. It's a neat concept, but I'd be surprised if this one turns out any different.

Assume all my mathhammer comes from here: https://github.com/daed/mathhammer

Part of the appeal is it's backed by a cyrptocurrency. That currency currently has a market cap of around $350 million, according to Wired...

... so I don't think it's going away.

One of the things the article points out is the level of discourse remains relatively high, since there are incentives to posting quality content and disincentives to trolling.

It occurred to me that some threads could benefit from this approach. Not suggesting everyone move their conversations from Dakka to Steemit, but there may be some lessons learned that could benefit this community.

For reference, here is the FAQ, which talks about monetization.

https://steemit.com/faq.html

"Steemit is a social media platform that works by having the crowd reward the crowd for their content. It does this thanks to the Steem blockchain and cryptocurrency; Steem is 'minted' daily and distributed to content producers according to the votes they get."
