So Cadia's been blown up, Kreig has been abandoned, and (as far as I know in the recent fluff) Armageddon is a write off i.e. about to be lost to Chaos.

So what famous Imperial Regiment at this point still has a homeworld that hasn't been blown up, taken, or abandoned?

Tallarn and Catachan were both saved by the Indomitus Crusade, though Catachan barely needed the help.

Valhalla, Attila, and Vostroya are stranded in the "Dark Imperium", but still fighting for survival.

Mordia we're not sure of, but it's likely overwhelmed by Tzeentchian forces.

Praetoria and Elysia are both safe within the Segmentums Pacificus and Solar.

Savlar, Harakon, Mordant Prime have no new information about them; their exact galactic location is not stated, so either they're in the "Dark Imperium" (Ultima and Obscurus) probably still fighting, or they're safe within Solar or Pacificus.

I should also note that while Cadia may be gone, but Cadians remain, same with the forces of Armageddon and Krieg, settled on other worlds-- though I'm not sure how this works for the Kriegsmen.

Mordia as far as I know is basically under siege or about to be overtaken from the Stygian Crusade. So that leaves Tallarn, Valhalla, Vostroya and Elysia and Catachan.

Knowing the Death Korps, they probably christen whatever world they're given to settle with a baptism by nuclear fire. No place like home.

That'd only work if they brought their illegal cloning technology with them, really.

Can't say with 100% certainty where I heard this, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that the Maledictum caused half of the planet to fall to Chaos, which is slowly beating back the Steel Legion and taking the rest of the planet.

I'll be honest, I also hadn't heard that Krieg had been abandoned, and Lexicanum has no information on it, and I don't think Armageddon is lost yet, either. I would certainly like to know where that information came from.

Astra Militarum regiments form uneasy and temporary alliances with the greenskin invaders to fight the daemonic threat. While the Steel Legion and planetary defence forces hold out against hope to secure Armageddon's hives, the Salamanders, along with nine other Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes, succeed in halting the ritual that would bring Angron, the Primarch of the World Eaters, back to the planet that had defied him in ages past.

I see nothing about Krieg being abandoned though.

Maybe I misremembered it; I remember reading about some Famous Regiment's Homeworld having to be abandoned, perhaps that was Mordia.

I haven't seen anything with regards to homeworlds being abandoned, aside from Cadia and Tanith.

Abandoning a planet is retreating on the galactic scale.

And this is supposedly from the guys who thought Vraks was a slightly chilly winter?

I also don't see the gain in someone attacking Krieg. Not only is the planet itself a Death World without any useful resources apart from the Death Korps, but it is also almost entirely fortified, incredibly loyal due to indocrination and it is far away from the Cicatrix Maledictum. Looking at the new galactic map from the codex, the only threat close to the planet is the Massed Uprising of genestealer cults, which would be a lesser threat to Krieg because of the controlled breeding program and because it seems far more difficult to infiltrate Krieg's society.

I am fully aware of Down Amongst The Dead Men, and it just serves to illustrate some of my arguments. The genestealer manages to seduce a recruit, but the recruit is never meant to breed so it proves to danger. It could potentially be a disaster if a kissed human is ever selected, but we have very little information about the process so it's hard to judge.

Not by "recruits".

By a single rejected recruit. The rejects are used as live-fire training for the actual recruits to train with.

Well, looks like I was wrong about Krieg. I must have been thinking of Mordia or Tanith or something. Sorry for the confusion!

Tanith was destroyed, but that's old news that everyone already knows.

Well as for Cadia the new book says that Cadians are making little Cadians on board ships on their way to their next destination. If I had my money on it Cadians will become the new "Fleet Based Chapter" and will simply exist to pop up anywhere to bring some fire to the enemies of the emperor.

As for Armageddon things do look grim but I think the Daemons have their work cut out for them considering the Steel Legion is reinforced with MILLIONS strong regiments every year and they still haven't forced out the greenskins, who I imagine are really having a good time now, and the fighting will draw EVEN MORE into the fight.

Good point!, i wonder when an inquisitor will realise the best way to kick chaos off armageddon, is to used the imperial fleet to escort orc ships to the surface and for the steel legion to hand out melta bombs and bolters to the arriving orcs
