Simple stuff really. I wonder if GW even know this is a problem or if they do know, do they care?

Lack of mobi made me stop buying them. I asked the BL about it and was sent a reply that said basically, 'our customers want gimmicky crap like 360 turning photos, rather than just simple digital rules, not available on mobi, so sorry'...

No more digital for me.

Digital versions from GW are a rip off if i'm paying money i want something in my hands.

I won't buy a digital GW product because the prices are laughably absurd. It has zilch to do with format (though that would be a concern for me I suppose?).

If it was in PDF and actually a saving on the cost of a physical product, then I'd be interested.

I don't buy digital for two reasons...

First, their pricing is way too high, the same as black library stuff. If I'm buying digital and I'm saving you the cost of going to the printer and delivering to stores, then I expect a larger price difference. I'm not saying you can't still have a larger profit margin, but you can still have that and go lower.

The second is I've heard about a lot of people having a lot of headaches with the digital versions. If I buy something digital I don't want to gamble on if it will work well on my device. A printed version will always work.

I understand that piracy is an issue, but the people doing that are still doing that. Not giving the rest of us PDF's is just an un-needed punishment.

I don't care about a pdf version but I wish they would make a mobi version for all the kindle users out there.

I'm buying all digital codices and their epub formats piss me off. Only certain reader apps will display them correctly, and even then there are usually some kind of typeset errors like text squeezing together and lines overlapping each other. I don't care about the price for digital codices but I would definitely prefer a simple version that displays correctly.

GW has abandoned apps in the past. Look at visions. They abandoned entire game systems. There’s zero chance of me buying something digitally from them at this point (other than the occasional worthless white dwarf mag) this , because of the reasonable likelihood they’ll make it stop working at a later date when it is financial convenient for them.

I view my codexes and rule books on my i6+, don’t really have issues other than the occasional link not going anywhere. Not overly happy with the formatting of codexes over the pass few years, hate having to flip back and forth between stats, rules, gear, and point cost, especially when a digital format can display all of that as needed from the same page.

I still like buying physical books, but if I did use digital, I'd want PDF. I wouldn't pay twice for the same content, though.

I’ve never had any issues at all with their digital rules. I prefer physical copies, but I’ve also gotten digital copies for my main stuff, as well as the indices, and I had a few of the “gamer edition” ones from 7th. As an aside I’d like to see a few of those come back out

I use iOS exclusively (an old ipad2 and my 6s)

If it's not a PDF, I'm not going to bother with it. Don't want to deal with yet another format and gimmicky features that don't really matter and that don't work properly on different devices.

GW's digital offerings are, at least in my opinion, garbage. They're expensive for gaming ebooks, are plagued with functionality and compatibility issues, and the format they've chosen to go with on their codex books (having everything spread out and in its own section, requiring constant referencing for literally everything) makes them easier to just flip through on paper.

You know it takes like a minute to convert mobi to PDF, right?

http://www.convertfiles.com/convert/ebook/MOBI-to-PDF.html

Same goes for everything except the "enhanced" versions. I have a couple command line tools that can deal with DRM protected reader files as well.

If the concern is about copying the file from a device, that's trivial. I know GW should be releasing things in the format you want to see them, but this would be smallest of all disappointments I have had to become accustomed to in many years of being a customer.

I would only normally buy something electronically if it was substantially cheaper and/or not available as physical.

I did buy Sisters codex (like many others) as digital and then managed to get it converted to pdf which is far superior other options.

They are also better to print out as hard copy is almost always superior to have rules discussions over rather than a tiny screen which the user can't work and keeps flipping round.

I have had mixed feelings about the digital copies. My first experiences were terrible, I hate the enhanced versions they are too annoying to use in a game.

However, with the release of 8th edition I bought both the physical index and digital index in basic epub. I use it to take screen shots of data slates to print out for the units I am using, which I keep in a binder so they are quicker to reference than flipping through the larger book.

I keep the book with me in case an opponent questions the print outs, but it is much easier to flip through say 5 or 6 pages than hundreds.

Yes, and Mobi/epub converted to PDF looks horrid. I've gone digital for just about all my gaming, but I can't stand GDW's offerings.

Right, but that conversion often turns out to be...less than optimal, and paying as much for an ebook as an actual book and then having to convert it is not something many feel is a worthy way to spend money.

If it looks horrid you're doing it wrong. There's no loss in quality. I use the following. It will convert anything to anything, and it's free.
