Hello,

Came across this in a game last night.
"
Playing vs DA Arjac was wounded by a unit of Knights. Took a total of 8 damage from 3 knights. 2 damage 2 damage and 4 damage. (crap rolls I know!)

His rule "The Anvil Shield" says "Arjac Rockfist has a 3+ Invulnerable save. In addition, reduce all damage suffered by Arjac Rockfist by 1 ( to a minimum of 1)"

How does this reduction apply?

Drops the total 8 damage down to 7?

Or changes the 2 dam 2 dam 4 dam to 1 dam 1 dam 3 dam?

Thanks

Each individual damage is reduced, because each weapon is resolved independently.

Also, per the Rulebook FAQ:
Q: If a model has an ability that halves damage suffered (rounding up) such as Marneus Calgar’s Armour of Antilochus ability, how is that resolved when I am attacked by several attacks at once? Do I halve the total of all the damage suffered, or do I halve the damage inflicted by each attack separately?
A: Halve the damage suffered by each attack separately. Remember that wounds are allocated one at a time. For example, if Marneus Calgar was wounded by four boltgun attacks (Damage characteristic 1) and each saving throw resulted in a failure, Calgar would suffer 0.5 wounds (which is rounded up to 1) four times, and would therefore lose 4 wounds.
While not exactly the same situation (it's lowering by 1 instead of halving), I would say this FAQ ruling applies in this situation even if the basic rules didn't (which they do, to be clear).

It's the 5 total not 7 total, as each attack is resolved separately and reduced by 1 each.

Say an attack from one shot inflicts two wounds he would only suffer one.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.
