So I can't find a thread newer than 2009 on Perry so may as well start a new one.

New resin WWII vehicles and plastic Zulus on the way. Plus a load of Napoleonic and other historicals.

Perry makes nice stuff (with the exception of their small line of plastic buildings which were absolute crap). I like to keep an eye on them though...sometimes I give in and order a kit.

Whilst their infantry are fine, their vehicle line completely disinterests me as its 1/60th and so incompatible with the majority of other 28mm manufacturers. Its a shame as they have loads of stuff the other companies don't sell, but I just don't want the larger vehicles being smaller than even 1/56th scale stuff (which I'm all right with, but woe on anyone using 1/48th). I've bought their Kugelwagen, and even if their infantry are smaller than most other manufacturers there's no way 4 men can fit inside of that (its a stretch for one o each row of seats... (and that's not accounting for the extra room there should be for stowage).

Not to bitch. They're just a disappointment. :/

That's a shame. Maybe I'll go for the 1/35 model kit instead for something properly impressive.

Zulus sir! Quintillions of them!

https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?products_id=3770&osCsid=sti95r53horif9ue620p72atc2

This box contains 38 (including 4 casualties) plastic multipart figures with unit bases and information pamphlet. There are enough firearms for 10 Zulus or they can all be armed with spear, javelin and knobkerry.

A nice step up from the old Wargames Factory ones no?

So that's a bit of a gap between releases, but look and see what my FLGS says is coming out June 6!

42 plastic Americans!

Just think you only need 4000 sets to do that 28mm D-Day diorama you've been thinking of!

Are they?

I thought they were North Africa themed to go along with their other WW2 sets.

There are palm trees in the box art but it’s definitely US Army soldiers not Marines. The 3 box deal is called The Big Red One and comes with a free Gen Patton sonits clearly meant to represent the US forces in Operation Torch the invasion of North Africa that was under the control of Vichy France.

Good point.

Now what can I do with these 4000 boxes I preordered?

Guess I have to get 1000 more so I can do that Operation Overthrow diorama I've been thinking of!

Where did you find that deal? I've been trying to find more about the set but there's nothing on the Perry site or their Facebook.

Spoiler:

US2 The 'Big Red One' deal.

When buying 3 boxes of US Infantry you will receive a metal General George S. Patton and aide Free.

Each box contains enough plastic figures to represent a full strength platoon plus HQ. In 1942 a company comprised of three platoons each of three sections of 12 men, at full strength, plus an HQ of five men. There was also a Weapons Platoon comprising of two .30 Browning machine guns (included) and three 60mm mortars (not included but available in our metal range). Each section included a corporal and five Garand armed riflemen (although early on there was a rifleman equipped with a Springfield rifle and grenade launcher), two Garand armed scouts, two Garand armed assistants to the BAR as well as the BAR gunner plus a sergeant often armed with a Garand but occasionally equipped with a carbine or Thompson SMG.

And 6 months later... NEWS!

New Afghan plastics in the pipeline!
Michael has been working on a box of plastic Afghan/North West Frontier tribesmen for a a few months, to oppose the British infantry already available. These will be produced after Alan's Napoleonic Austrian cavalry are released. There will be ten different torsos and a large variety of arms and heads and will include a few Brown Bess and Sniders as well as jezails. There will be enough sword arms to equip all with them if you wish and the box will contain 36 tribesmen including command. There's no release date as yet.

Not to forget the recent release of their new Napoleonic French Infantry sets (Habit-longe coats and shakos, so 1807-1814ish) split into regular fusiliers with a few skirmishers (Voltigeurs/Grenadiers) and a full set of the latter two.

Awaiting the arrival of my copies, so can update with thoughts later if there's interest.

Whats the size of those Zulus compared to Copplestone?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

This box contains 36 multipart plastic figures that can be used for Afghan or North West Frontier tribesmen. There are 4 warrior frames and 2 command frames, bases, flags and an information booklet written by Mark Urban included.

Well my first thought was leave off the guns and they're good for another 200 years earlier. Add some bolt actions and AK-47s and they're good for up to 2020 and beyond.

I'm currently painting up the US infantry set and wanted to share some thoughts. They are good figures but;

1) No instructions. The arms are very much specific to certain bodies, even then none are very good fits.
2) Good luck with the machine gunner, you're gonna need it!! Started trimming the body, then the arms, then carving the body, then carving the arms! Arms still did not fit very well!
3) Make sure you have greenstuff.
4) Have a dictionary on standby for all the new swear words you will be using to vent your frustration.

They are good figs for the price, but you shouldn't really have to go to war just to get them put together!

Are you talking about the new(ish) Union Infantry box? If so, the instructions are available on the website with complete directions for the correct arm pairings. It isn't terribly difficult to look up.
