So we've seen Assault on Black Reach being repurposes as Battle for Vedros and the return of Island of Blood in it's entirety as Spire of Dawn, so how likely do you guys think they will look at Dark Vengeance and possibly repackage it as something else and re-release it? Certainly it would be worth it, especially if it gets a cost reduction like spire of dawn did, since the Cultists are some of the most sought after models right now and the rest of the set wasn't too shabby either. Would you guys like to see it return at all?

(Note that this is not based in rumors, so do not take this as a possible hint of it returning for real).

I have sell enough cultist so yes, ill love a rerelease. That cultist champion with shootgun and Lord Kranon are the best chaos sculpts ever done.

I really hope not, honestly. I've seen so many of those models over and over and over again. As a former Chaos player, it really irks me that GW just copy-pasted those Cultist models instead of giving us a multi-part Cultist box.

I saw a couple Dark Vengeance sets at my GW that weren't moving. The GW manager was actually sending them back to GW because nobody was buying them so he could make room for new stuff.

I foolishly sold off the Chaos portion of my DV set and I want it back, so I would love for another release. I need those cultists!

Never cared much about the Cultists (gaming wise and model wise) but the Chosen and characters were actually very nice sculpts for every player of Renegades or undivided Chaos. It wouldn't surprise me if GW released them at some point again.

I don't think we'll see that Helbrute again, though. Which is okay as I find it pretty ugly

If they have some leftover stock, we might see it come back. If not, then it is gone forever.
Let's hope GW will just release multipart cultists.

They really don't need to release multipart cultists.

If you are not converting your own, you are doing it wrong. They are THE ragtag misfits that follow no guidelines or reason.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

If by "gone forever", you mean "gone until they decide to make more"? Then yeah, you'd be right.

Island of Blood was legitimately gone. The initial rebox of it as "Spire of Dawn" sold through the old stock and it was a big enough deal that it's now a permanently stocked item again.

Tangentially I somewhat would like to see Battle for Skull pass reboxed, but I suppose the dwarfs in that are too out of scale for post AoS dwarfings?

It's now an out-of-date starter set...so I think it's safe to say it'll be gone for good. I'd be very surprised if they went with the AoS method in a few years (Isle of Blood or whatever was the first starter set I've ever seen return after the fact as a simple box of models --- I don't recall them ever doing that before).

It's pretty obvious though that the shift to Primaris Marines would prevent DV from becoming some kind of cost-effective miniatures box. They'd be taking sales away from their own new fancies.

Spire of Dawn actually is still a "starter" set.
The box also includes the complete rules for playing games of Warhammer age of Sigmar, 2 Warscroll Battalions and 2 Pitched Battle Profiles, one of each for each force.

Also worth noting that the "shift to Primaris Marines" is because they're effectively a new subfaction that has been/will be added to most of the "Codex: Adeptus Astartes" books. I can't think of much for them which hasn't been able to be taken by Dark Angels.

Once I start building my traitor guard army, I'm just going to buy the Genestealer cult kits, they have a chaos-y enough look, just file off the Tyranid symbols and you're good.

That might be more unlikely, the sculpts for those ones are vastly inferior to anything we have now. The DV Miniatures at least could intermingle with existing minis without standing out; one of those old dwarfs would look very out of place next to an actual Dwarf Warrior.

However I wouldn't put it past them to sell the molds to a third party and have them produce "Build and Paint V2" with them (considering that line of products have been using sculpts dating back to Gorka Morka).

I got my hands on an old Battle for Skull Pass set recently and I must sat that the Skull Pass dwarves actually fit in just fine with the rest of the WHFB/AoS dwarf range. They are in the same style as the dwarf/dispossessed kits. And the miners and cannon crew actually look pretty great.
They wouldn't fit in with the new AoS duardin of course, but none of the WHFB dwarves do, so that is fine.

I don't know why GW brought Island of Blood back, but given the fact that is the only time in GW history they ever brought a starter set back I don't think they are going to do it again. And especially not Dark Vengeance, as the old-style Space Marines in it don't really fit in with the new Primaris anymore.

And I've heard that's a unique occurence.

Weird, though. Spire of Dawn isn't on the Swedish version of GW's webstore, why is that?

Assault on Black Reach is STILL in production, and it's almost ten years old. Oddly, you can't buy it directly from GW - you have to get the Battle for Vedros sets from select retailers.

Different tastes then. I have two of the sets and a few of the new Dwarf Warriors and the newer Warriors stick out like a sore thumb. The Cannon crew though is pretty finely detailed and I wish they'd get released on their own as some sort of snapfit, easy to build dwarf crew. Same goes for the miners. The Lord and Slayer though leaves a lot to be desired (the lord is very visibly....flat).

In the case of DV, there is a problem: the size of the (excellent) Chosen sculpts.
I think new CSM sculpts will all be TS/DG sized. I could be wrong, but still.

Myself, I am tempted more and more by Anvil for zombies and cultists, but the zombies will need the usual conversion I am carrying out on the Walkers, it will not be easy.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

Actually the Chosen Sculpts, mounted on a 32mm base, are practically of the same eight than Rubrics and Death Guard.

The same for the Lord of Chaos (Kranon). You can compare it with the Lord of Contagion from Dark Imperium and they are of the same height (If you count the terminator armour)

Spoiler:

Albeit is nothing tragic, size is smaller and proportions are different. Especially the Legs.
Mind it that is a shame IMHO, these sculpts are good. Probably on a "trimmed" plague marine one perceives the difference way less.

Those aren't any more different in size than people are in real life, the extra bling on the left guy makes him look bigger than he is. Seems fine to me.

That image is actually mine Kaiyanwang After taking it, I changed the Chosen from the 25mm base to a 32mm and the difference was much smaller. You are right, it existed yeah, but it wasn't noticiable to any level on the tabletop.

Those horrible mould lines in the bolter of the plague marine. Totally mine, yes

There's still too many copies of Dark Vengeance languishing about. Wait until stocks have run out, and they may consider it, at a 50% price hike.

We should probably see another release of Space Hulk (with Aggressors replacing terminators) shortly before it.

(Personally, I'd like to see a reissue of Advanced Space Crusade with updated models, maybe a rules redo, myself).

Yeah, I think that for most people they are ok, still you feel the legs (this can be adjusted) but the issue is more if GW feels they are close enough to their current aesthetics.

No problem! Here is the post for reference:
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/731039.page#9471017

I agree that they have a noticiable different aesthetic but to be honest, what in the Chaos Range doesn't? I use mine in a mixed Chaos Army. Half of the army is death guard and the other army is normal Chaos Marines, painted with slighly different paint schemes but very similar, so they look totally right side by side.

You can see here how the Chaos Lord is totally fine side by side with the Lord of Contagion. And he is on a 25mm base

And as I say in the other post, actually the Chaos Chosen Champion is the smaller, probably for the pose and because he has no helmet.

But I use him as a Dark Apostle so, being a singular character I say that he is in fact a small space marine
