Flower Picking Eldar Youth

I've been an avid reader of this forum for about 1-2 years and really enjoy reading all the thoughts, insights, and speculation of whats to come.

Little about me, I am 31, played this game in high school then set it down for about 12 years. Just a year or two ago I started playing on the tail end of seventh with a buddy and we were having fun.
I waited and waited for 8th edition to get released, and so far very happy with the rules changes and streamlining.

I've become a regular member of a hobby store near me and played in a couple of escalation leagues so far. It's not ultra competitive because the environment is about being inclusive, bringing folks into the hobby, and not centered around utterly smashing your opponent (even though it can happen )

That being said, I'm playing Craftworld Eldar (Foot-dar, not three knights on a table called an army).
I generally like to run a battalion detachment with:

- 10 Guardian Squad x2
- 5 Dire Avengers x1
- 1 Farseer
- 2 Warlocks
- Then I'll work around all kinds of aspect warriors riding in wave serpents (have 3) and my new beloved unit, 3 war walkers kitted with 6 Scannons.

Have to say, I love playing the foot-dar because I'm a tactics guy, but I run into some challenges with certain compositions...
Just played an open war game with a deployment that has no buffer zone, Mortarion literally crushed 1,000 points in two turns singlehandedly, should I be forced to bring a Wraightknight to counter??

I know this is an introduction forum, so I'll totally move the conversation if it wants to get locked... I just had to draft it up..
Not salty, but maybe my pride in liking to play a type of army just can't compete with some of the units GW is bringing into the game.

Anyways.... love the folks here and the feedback, I have thick skin that my army is whack and I should just go MOAR WAVE SERPENTS

Welcome to Dakka and to Craftworld Eldar!

I would love to help you with advice, but I really can't, as I'm quite a newbie myself and only play what I like the look of.

If you want more in-depth advice you should check out the 40k Tactics subforum, there are lots of friendly people there who'll be able to help you better than I could.

I do know that Mortarion is a beast though, and that Wraithknights aren't very popular this edition.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

Welcome to Dakka,

I was the same way with reading and enjoying Dakka for a long time before getting around to actually joining. I'm very glad I did. You will find plenty of good tactics advice on here.
