Hey Folks, New fresh face with an intro post.
Figured I'd bring my discussion into here, as its probably more fitting.
I'm playing Craftworld Eldar (Foot-dar, not three knights on a table called an army).
I generally like to run a battalion detachment with:
- 10 Guardian Squad x2
- 5 Dire Avengers x1
- 1 Farseer
- 2 Warlocks
- Then I'll work around all kinds of aspect warriors riding in wave serpents (have 3) and my new beloved unit, 3 war walkers kitted with 6 Scannons.
Have to say, I love playing the foot-dar because I'm a tactics guy, but I run into some challenges with certain compositions...
Just played an open war game with a deployment that has no buffer zone, Mortarion literally crushed 1,000 points in two turns singlehandedly, should I be forced to bring a Wraightknight to counter??
Not salty, but maybe my pride in liking to play a type of army just can't compete with some of the units GW is bringing into the game.
I really don't want to be forced to play Ynari because SfD is so powerful.
Anyways.... love any feedback, I have thick skin for those that believe my army is whack and I should just go Ynari and MOAR WAVE SERPENTS

Eldar cant do foot troops atm.
You have 3 options
1) play against other friendly lists
2) change what your doing
3) Wait for codex
Eldar isnt bad, but there are some builds that dont work with them. Also WK's (im not joking) 80pts+ over costed, No saying dont take them, but just saying b.c they are so costly your handicap already and when going against Mortarion via footdar/WK its stupidly unfair.
Mortarion is cheaper than your WK, just think about that for a minute.

Not sure a Wraithknight would manage to counter Morty, he is very tough and packs a serious wallop. The WK might get lucky but my money would be on Morty.
It is tough because the DG codex is pretty good and we are still playing with the index list. Our codex is only a month away now though so it may be worth being patient and seeing what materialises.
If you want to have a go with your current setup, I would try adding an Autarch to the list. If you have Footdar, his reroll bubble will work quite well, particularly if your Farseer can Doom Morty.

That's exactly what I did, I finally took him down but the Autarch on Skyrunner with Laser Lance died in the first turn counter attack (0 wounds delivered to Morty); then tried to Doom him first turn but he denied (he can deny 3 powers... grrr)
; Finally doomed him 3rd turn and took him down in the 4th. The funny thing is... Guardian Shuriken spam fire did over 80% of his 16-18 wounds compared to the Dark Reapers; Bright Lances; Starcannons.... everything bounced...
I guess its hard to stop a bucket of 50 dice with doom .

Runes of the Farseer can be used to reroll even if you manage to manifest a power. This can be used to make a power harder to deny. Say you need 7 to manifest, and roll a 6 and a 1. You can reroll the 1 to fish for a higher result. Also works to get a d6 Smite sometimes.

You know... great advice, I've used Runes to re-roll failed manifests, but I've never done it to boost my power. Ty

Well, if you're talking right now, then dont take a wraithknight. They are essentially identical to imperial knights in stats, but have to pay for an invulnerable and have worse weapon options, and cost more. They need a reduction of about 100 points to compete, and thats huge.
Most Eldar units are overpriced at the moment, which is another problem with running footdar lists. You can't field enough bodies to survive a couple turns of footslogging, because your units are far more expensive than their fragility allows. 20% reductions in price across the board, and maybe they'll be back on track.
This is all under current rules though, so in a weeks time it will be completely different as Eldar will have their codex, along with (hopefully) extra rules and abilities which will justify their points. Or, alternatively, a bunch of price reductions. Or both.
I would suggest not buying any new units until after the codex comes out. It'll only be a couple weeks, and unit options and choices may completely change between now and then.
