So, I want bugs.

New edition, new codex around the corner, sounds like good timing jah? This will be my 2nd army, Ive only ever played guard.

I really like pictures of the coloring of hive fleet Kraken I see around, and was going to aim for that sort of a look. That said, with what they did for AdMech and guard, do you folks think that there will be different rules / strategems etc for the different fleets? I'm not much of a power gamer, but if we're talking about choosing a paint scheme and its actually going to matter (for myself, I try to WYSIWYG everything)... I will probably wait.

Thoughts?

For what it's worth, you can be pretty confident that whatever codex they do get, gaunts will still be a staple. Building the body of a carnifex without the weapons seems a pretty safe bet to.

Dawn of War 2 has a decent army painter with tyranid selectable. I personally like colour schemes that evoke the look of poisonous insects or frogs.

Absolutely! Bright greens, reds, purples or even oranges really convey the toxic look of bugs.

Army comp wise, assuming the codex doesn't shift too much from the index, several big blocks of gaunts is a good start

There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

There will definitely be different rules for different hive fleets.

You may want to wait before you decide your paint scheme and army composition, because the codex will be here soon.

Assuming you go for a custom paint scheme you can go with whatever hive fleet rules you want.

(I still don't agree with rules being locked to the colour blue etc. but I get it though to avoid confusion to not paint an army like Ultramarines and say they are Raven Guard)

If you're pretty confidant on the color scheme you like, might as well start now, but you miiiight wanna wait and see what hive fleet traits you get.

I personally have been stuck in hiatus with my Orkz, which were being painted up in different clans colors for each unit up until now.
