So one of my biggest gripes about AoS is the rolling for going first each turn. And it got me thinking, do you think AoS would be a good game to bring in then bolt action mechanic of drce drawing? And then doing an entire units turn then and there? It seems like it could be done as a simple substitution. Your buffs and or debuffs would last until the end of the dice draws. Thoughts and or experiences?

I do love that system. Throw something together and see if we can get some tests in.

I use alternate activation in my campaigns.

Activate a unit throughout its entirety.
Then opponent does.

Etc.

It actually was semi-popular in my group, that typically hates all things houserule.

I've implemented a house rule for AoS leagues that there's no initiative roll for the second round; the player that went first the first round goes first in the second. On the third round initiative rolls begin as normal. I actually hate rolled initiative in matched play but I understand that a lot of people like it so this seemed a happy compromise. Gotten a lot of positive feedback so far.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Thats a neat idea. I'll consider that as well.

I could see removing the initiative roll from the second battle round, since 9/10 times round one is charging so if someone gets a double let turn, that can be brutal because the other guy is basically lined up perfectly for you.

Round 1-2 double turn is the strongest thing in the game by far. In all my games using rolled I have only chosen to go first once when I had choice. But once the initiative started on round 3 that became a decision I have to think about.

Def, going second is AoS is the most powerful thing just for that double turn chance, because you can pretty much open up with everything twice. I might try what you do, remove the initiative on the second turn.
