Hello all!

I was told about this forum from a very helpful guy in GW so of course signed up straight away. I have just started out and have no models as of yet but that will soon change.

I am currently intrested in 40k and will be looking over the next few weeks to which armies I will be collecting.

Hello and welcome to Dakka!

You'll find lots of info here, and lots of people willing to help you if you ask.

I don't know whether you're most interested in collecting, building and painting, or playing, but my advice in any case is that you primarily check out the aesthetics of the armies when deciding what to get. Rules change, power levels change, but as long as you really like your army on a personal level you'll be fine.

Hope you'll like it here!

Thank you

I am intrested in all 3 factors and very much looking forward to learning painting techniques as well. I have my eye on Adeptus Mechanicus but will do alot more reading first.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome to Dakka. Ad Mech is cool, and not a usual army that people start with, I think. Are you going to be mostly playing in GW or more with friends? If with friends you may want to start a secondary army too so your friends can play with you. I strongly encourage orks for the secondary (if not primary). Every person that I've gotten into the game, I've helped them start an ork force along with the army that is their favorite. I find orks to be the most fun, lore wish they love fighting anyone and everyone so your battles always make sense, they're pretty forgiving to beginners, ork boys are pretty cheap on ebay, and scratch building ork stuff can be easier (unless you decide to make everything look amazing like Camkierhi) and fun. Just my two cents.
