I am building an Astra Militarum Army, a Regiment of my own devising. In due time, I look forward to posting pictures and sharing the fluff I have put together for them.
I build armies upon models and themes I like. My Army has to look good on display, have satisfied my model buying hunger for sexy models and hopefully not get ripped on the table top...
This Regiment has very limited Plasma Weaponry - an high ranking Officer with connections might have a Plasma Pistol... but no Plasmaguns, Plasma Cannon's etc... I'm going for a cannon and bullet themed regiment where possible, based upon WW2 urban combat based Veterans kind of thing... I'll be using the Death Korps Of Krieg Bren Gun like H. Stubber with the barrel shortened a bit.
So to replace them (plasma's) in the Regiment I want to use Heavy Stubber's.
So my first question is this;
Trading Plasmagun for heavy Stubber... fair trade without factoring much else in? (Question 1)
Plasma's can be fired on the move, have big punch etc...
Heavy Stubber's can't be fired on the move so well, are weak compared to Plasma, but have superior range and rate of fire...
In practice, thus far 1 single Veteran Squad will have 2 Heavy Stubber's, a Mortar team and either a flamer or Grenade launcher, but maybe neither of the last two.
My Hades Drill Vet's have Lasgun's instead of Shotgun's... fair trade or could this undermine
GW's intention here? (Question 2)
Imagine we meet in a
GW store for a friendly pick-up game. With these changes... would any of them bother you or give the impression I am using fluff to justify
OP combinations etc...?
The rest of my Army... Scions never have special weapon's, carrying only Hot-Shot Lasguns for further context.
I'm not secretly talking about something that happened
btw... I'm crafting a themed based Astra Militarum army and wondering how fellow gamer's might respond to a slightly codex bending force...
Thanks so much to all who respond!
I look forward to being here a bit more actively!
