Didn't change that much, never used torps on a jumpmaster anyway. Losing the astromech is bull hockey though. But I thought the Punishing One title was supposed to buy back the torp and astromech.

I'm definitely a bit surprised there's no way to get back the astromech since that was kind of a thing for the titled ship. Nerfs in generally feel far too late to matter at this point sadly, but I'm glad to see them regardless.

Almost half the cards in the J5K pack are either completely useless (guidance chips) or cannot even be equipped. Glad I stopped playing X-Wing months ago. FFG genuinely has no fething clue what they are doing or even want to do with the game anymore.

I think the issue is the bottom of the barrel has been hit and soundly broken and we're now about three feet into the ground.

I'm on record here somewhere as saying that conditions were an indicator of that in the same way as pod racing was in the old Decipher CCG.

The game had limited design space and, staying away from obscure references in the footnotes of technical manuals, a limited number of ships. The whole thing could have been "finished" by now, but instead it's been hugely successful and as a consequence there's a drive, either within FFG, or from Asmodee or the House Of Mouse to keep the money rolling in.

Consequently we get ships nobody likes, mechanics that feel rushed and/or tacked on, stuff that's just flat out better than existing stuff and ridiculous FAQs because they still insist on refusing to reprint cards (timing chart anyone?)

I still like a lot about the game, the underlying engine with the little game of manoeuvre poker each turn and the fact that it's SW above most, but we need a 2nd Edtion with a pack of affordable replacement cards for existing players (such as Steamforged did moving from Season 2 to Season 3 of Guild Ball) STAT.

We find comfort among those who agree with us - growth among those who don't. - Frank Howard Clark

The wise man doubts often, and changes his mind; the fool is obstinate, and doubts not; he knows all things but his own ignorance.

Yeah, the game caught on like wildfire, and I don't think anybody ever expected that with how simple it all started off honestly.

Same here.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

IMHO they should've slowed the releases down a bit. demand would've stayed high but material would've lasted longer.

With the Alpha Class and that bad ass looking Kimogila coming out, and even with how much I love their looks, it PAINS me, but I have to agree with you captain. This year especially seems like a lot of ships landed in the game.

Its surprising just how much will be have been released this year;
Wave X (five ships)
Wave XI (three ships)
Wave XII (three ships)
Wave XIII (two, maybe three ships)
Scum Aces (two repaints)
C-Roc (epic with repaint)

That combined with how the rules and mechanics have been altered is really getting over the top, the FAQ is now five pages longer than the rules!

Still whilst I love this FAQ I wish the timing was better we have nationals on the 11/11 and this is going to really mess things up (I was going to take Nymgar and have over fifty games in practice), now I have to get something together pretty quick. Still Scum Aces released today and will be legal.

You think it's bad on your side of the Tasman?

Our nats is this weekend and people have already started asking if some of the rule clarifications are legal for the weekend

Huh, I haven't seen that happening, that said I don't have trouble doubting it at all.
I have seen a kerfuffle over list submission though, as some of the more popular squadron builders have already been updated with the changes, which resulting in basically every list involving a Jumpmaster becoming screwed up.

I must say, I just love the comedic timing of this though. Just at a local tournament last weekend there were jokes about the FaQ drooping before the Nats just to screw everything up .

Well they shouldn't be because the effective date 06/11 as it says on the front page of the FAQ, need a Dad's Army pic...

Thankfully I don't have to deal with this mess because I'm (un)fortunately unable to attend despite being relatively close (just the exact wrong side of Brisbane).

I wish you the best of luck, though.

If it's any consolation, at least the venue is licensed.
Not that I'm advocating trying to drink problems away or anything, of course .

Might as well have said " you cant play with the following cards". Why not just nerf the weapons themselves instead of the ships like Bomblet,TLT, and Plasma Torp? Biggs, JM5K, and Palp should cost less imo. TLT spam is going to be all over the place.

Completely understand pulling back on things that are spam..
but gutting it is dangerous to the product line.

It's not quite as much as it looks like. For example, 2 of the ships from Wave X technically came out last year before Rogue One. 2014 saw the release of 2 waves of 4 ships, 2 aces packs, and 2 Epic ships. 2015 saw Scum & Villainy launch, another wave of 4 ships, a new core set along with 2 expansions that would later be claimed as part of Wave 8, and two more Epic ships. Really, the big difference this year seems to be bumping up Wave XII. If we just got the Bomber and Striker with the movie this year, we'd be looking at something pretty similar to what's come before.

Oddly, what hasn’t helped is that The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi don’t really have many new ship designs.

Yes, it's almost as if technology was holding them back from providing us with more outlandish designs for... reasons?

I'll be honest, I was a bit miffed that the Resistance didn't have more of a rag-tag feeling to it. One damn fighter.

Not likely.

The number of people that ran out to buy three Jumpmasters when they found out they were overpowered is considerably less than the number of people that have been put off by the all the try-hards. These changes actually have myself and a bunch of people I know that had pretty much stopped playing interested in pushing some plastic spaceships around again.

Problem is something else will become top dog and FFG will fix it (I'm wager on the Gunboat titles, once they've sold lots obvs)

I wasn't too bothered by the J5K as the build-a-bear thinking behind it was a novel idea, just the execution was flupped, problem is FFG seem to be embrace the sell it then fixit mentality infecting lots of the major hobby brands

The release now fix later mentality could be the downfall of X-Wing more than anything else, the JM5K was too good to start with, unhinged, k-4 and torps is ridiculously good, especially with how cheap that can be on the scrub, combined with having an EPT, which as a little aside thing, a local guy I know claims the EPT on the al scrub is why the ship was op, nothing else, according to him if that wasn't there the ship would be perfectly fine. But on topic, my biggest issue with the fix is, half the upgrades the jumpmaster comes with can't be used by it.

I find the "upgrades it comes with" complaint a bit... it seems like people are trying to find something to shield the ship from the nerfs, honestly. Outside of the ship specific titles, most ship/card purchases are pretty well divided. I mean, would anyone actually be upset if the Scurrg had a set of Autothrusters in it?

Kinda? I mean it's like ordering a steak and baked potato and instead getting a steak and okra. (In this case let's just say that okra is god awful and has no place or use on or near a delicious bloody rare steak.)

Hate to say it but i think formats may be the answer. This nerf is way over the line. Too many drastic changes when simple point increases here or there would suffice. Theyve butchered these poor ships. The more they tighten their grip...
