So I have finally discovered Shadow War Armageddon after being away from GW for years, and with my love for Alpha Legion I'm planning to stick with them. I'm a little bit on the fence between what to arm my specialist, so I'm turning to you fine people for advice.

Glad you discovered SWA. It will be remembered as one of GW's better games.

Which of those 2 weapons depends on your points budget and your play style .

1. The plasmagun is about half the points of the auto cannon. The drawbacks to this discount are the plasma's lesser range, higher ammo roll threshold, and that it might explode. But the plasma is more versatile because it can be fired on low power ( ya....right! ).

2. Do your heretics prefer to stand off at a distance big weapons (that will likely never run out of ammo) super sniping the helpless opposition with god-like impunity knowing that few enemy weapons can reach back out to retaliate? Or do you see your weedy traitors bobbing and weaving through cover, always on the move, taking closer range powerful pot shots at loyalists and xenos?

The choice is yours, Alpharious.....

I've yet to see a plasma gun pop. OTOH, I have seen them kill my hapless Scouts and I've used them to kill.

BTW conventional wisdom holds that you start with as many CSM as possible. Boyz before toyz is the general rule of SWA.

I've actually found the best CSM loadout to be inferno bolt pistol spam. With -3 ASM and hitting on 3+ even through hard cover at short you really don't need specials.
