So with the new Tzeentch Arcanite battleforce coming next month, I'm playing around with different lists for the Cult of the Transient Form. I like the Pyrofane Cult's bonuses better, but the CotTF's color scheme is a lot of fun to paint (I've already done 10 Acolytes for Shadows over Hammerhal). I'm trying to decide between two lists. I'll start with the core and then get to the decision I'm trying to make.

Battalions (330 pts):

Cult of the Transient Form

Alter-Kin Coven

Arcanite Cabal

Leaders (420 pts):

Fatemaster

Magister

Tzaangor Shaman

Battleline (860 pts):

20x Tzaangors

20x Kairic Acolytes (x2)

10x Kairic Acolytes

Other (560pts):

3x Tzaangor Skyfires (x2)

3x Tzaangor Enlightened

So that leaves me with 330 points to spend. Here are the two options I've come up with:

The leaders make up the Arcanite Cabal and the Tzaangors, one group of Acolytes, and one group of Skyfires make up the Alter-kin Coven.

Option 1:

Skyshoal Coven (130 pts)

If I go this route, I would basically add a third group of Skyfires. The non-Alter-kin Skyfires and Enlightened are in the Skyshoal coven. This list adds some mobility to the Skyfires and Enlightened and give them the ability to do extra damage in the hero phase, though not reliably. The big benefit is having extra Skyfires, which are still some of the best units in the game. This list comes to an even 2500.

Option 2:

Witchfire Coven (110 pts)

I add another 10 Tzaangors to the groups, and bump third group of Acolytes to 20. The Witchfire Coven would consists of the other two Acolytes units and the Enlightened. This would give me extra shooting (Witchfire Coven Acolytes get a free shooting attack in the Hero Phase) and a few more Acolytes to feed into the Tzaangor unit. In this option, I might consider using one group of 6 Skyfires instead of 2 groups of 3 to make them easier to buff if I need to. This list comes to 2470, so I have a little breathing room if GW decides to rescind the horde discount (assuming nothing else increases in price) on the next balancing pass.

So what do y'all think?

At that point level, lord of change and if you can drop something to take a gaunt summoner and bale windo votes.

All of that will cost you 520 points so find how to free up 190 points, give the gaunt summoner terchorus bonds, and put him up on a bale wind vortex. If you make the Lord of change your HQ the gaunt summoner get a +1 to Casta, +1 from the vortex, +1 from the families ( they are free take them) so you can now cast bonds with no issues,. The gaunt summoners range then doubles to 36" for his tzeentzch fire Strom which is one of the most powerful anti horde spells in the game. Casting value of 8(5 with your +3) roll a dice for each model in the unit, on a 4+ it takes a mortal wound. I was one shottint entire 40 man rat blobs a turn. The vortex makes him safe from melee and bonds makes it so he can pass off range spells, plus vortex makes him a sniper.

lord of change can crap put a devestating spell to Merc strong single units, give him the rod and keep him at range.

Just my options, get rid of Magister, he is crap, unless you need him for a batalion, otherwise replace him with a gaunt summoner. I'd you can take a cursling as well, he dispell is nasty since you can cast instantly what ever you deny.

To many unpainted models to count.

I appreciate the suggestion, hacker, but I don't really play daemons (with the exception of units with daemonic mounts). I mostly focus on the mortal followers of the chaos gods.
