There's chaos warhound on sale in finnish forum which I'm considering if price was right. However it's the chaos variant which is kinda bummer. If it was loyal variant I would be more interested but not sure were fluffwise chaos titans already corrupted looking in Horus Heresy. I would like to have visually fairly "authentic" looks for my armies(bonus if it was loyal variant would be it could be used alongside blood angels with suitable paint scheme...Chaos variant is obviously not going to mesh well with blood angels regardless of colour scheme!).

Also assuming it's not varnished how hard it might be to strip paint? It's not fully assembled as it's planned to be magnetized so that helps. What if it's varnished?

Maybe titans that were with the Death Guard, or Emps Children.

The rest of the legions were a bit slower in embracing the madness, so by extension the forces with them.

If you were running WE, I'd say it'd be a great fit as a Titan from Legio Audax (Ember Wolves). They were crazy muthers from the beginning.

Legio Mortis were the ones who rolls with them, and I think they kept pretty clean, until they went to the Eye of Terror. No reason you can't say it's a loaner warhound though, from another Legio. Sons of Horus and Deathguard on on the same planet, just not at the same battle?

By the time the Legio Mortis landed on Terra to take part in the siege of the Imperial Palace during the Battle of Terra, its Titans had been warped and mutated beyond all recognition -- their adamantium hulls pockmarked and bubbling with fetid vapours.

Found this on wiki. This would be perfect excuse. Leaving just price and incopatibility with blood angels as a worry

don't forget the word bearers, they were the first to have possessed marines after all, hell anything in the chaos marines range that isn't in mkvii armor is pretty suitable for WB so a chaos titan would be no problem.

Alas WB is THE least interesting chaos legion for me (dunno. I have just never found them all that interesting. Alpha Legion has also become rapidly my disliked legion due to the new fluff BL went with them).

But bah. That quote from wiki seemed good enough excuse. Sure looks like I'm ending up owner of one. GULP! I'm dreading already the painting(and stripping previous paint...) but painting is going to be half the fun of the model. Wouldn't buy it just as a gaming piece.

ExcUSE you all, DG were very anti-chaos shenanigans 'till typhus screwed that all up.

as for daemon titans: Word Bearers would probs have some near the middle/end, and Dark Mechanicus started putting daemons in things about half way through the heresy, so I suppose you could use daemon titans

Well my collection was going to be themed toward Siege of Terra anyway(SoH & Blood Angels who in turn will have MKVII armour in limited quantities) so Legio Mortis it will be! Going to be interesting to figure out how to paint metal and black parts. Maybe paint partially green to indicate turning toward nurgle.

Assuming I buy it. Negotiations on price going on, somebody might give better offer and still want to see some pictures or preferably face to face(as luck turns out he lives near city I go to work so that's possible. No postage worries! Yey!) to ensure it's assembled all right.

I would say the chaos titan would work for the SoH! You also could remove all the stars and have it just be a much more brutal looking titan, akin to the Legio Audax that has already been brought up.

I kinda suspect the opposite, as the SoH were pretty corrupted before that. Remember we have the Luperci (and the Tormaggedon) that Maloghurst help created, and was working with daemons around the middle of the Heresy. And there's the story of Horus in Dark Compliance also using daemons which was in the middle-ish of the Heresy. They might not yet understand the nature of chaos, but it's pretty reasonable to make a chaos themed SoH army by the middle of the heresy (you probably could even do earlier and say they were early adopters if they had heavy influence from the WB).

I mean Mortarion was "anti-chaos", but as early as Flight of the Eisenstein we get a DG becoming corrupted (albeit not surviving long), and there is that whole Mortarion doing something pretty hypocritical on Molech that prety much means he's willing to work with Chaos as long as he is control:
Spoiler:
Killing his 7 deathshroud to summon the soul of Grulgor, the legionary who became corrupted by Nurgle in Eisenstein, so really Mortarion was using chaos before the whole Typhus warp travel detour, he was just being willfully ignorant

Fair enough, but we also have Morty aknowledging that screw up in Scars (I believe, could be getting the book wrong. as well as that, we had a fair number of DG leave after that event as they saw it as "witchcraft" as seen in the first DG short story we got last december) as well as his anti-daemon actions and conversation in Daemonology. He was starting to slip, but for the most part, outside of Typhus, but even he wasn't super into the idea until the shenanigans on the planet that he met up with Luther on (the second of the new short stories we got last December). They did eventually fall, but for the legion as a whole, most of that was after Typhus gave them all super-space-aids

The horus heresy audiobook honour to the dead features the engine war at calth, and includes a corrupted warhound called the Denola.

She was a legio Surtuvora engine (fire masters).
