Simple question is the council of blood formation any good in the competitive scene?

Yes, because Bloodthirsters are simply very powerful models for their points.

It depends on your enemy.

I play BoK A LOT so I can give you my opinion.

Bloodthirsters are very powierful if you face a CC oriented army like SCE, BCR, nurgle, StD and so on but id you face Tzeentch, KO - they just die before they can attack. Huge point sink in those cases.

Most of the times getting more than one isn't worth the points.

Council of blood has potential but need to be executed properly. Combinig CoB with GOre pilgirms f.e. is great. You have two drops with buffed BT (to hit or save - either one is great) and You will start the game in most cases.

TBF against a tourney-level Tzeentch list a lot of things die before they can attack. Whole armies can't even do anything about it.

Well it does open the door to combos. Like a wok thirster and bloodstoker, opens the door to a 1st turn charging unit. You can even go multiple.

I had 30 bloodletters with a +4 to run and charge, allowed to run and charge with a +3 to hit (slaughterpriests) re-roll of 1's, so mortal wounds on a 3+. That with a stoker giving them an extra attack is a mortal wound slingshot that will hurt no matter what.
