Are those two roughly the same size?
Idea is to strap 2 rear ends from Trukk set on Maw's back, add some plastic chains, and put slightly modified Runtherd on place of a Orruk Boss as tamer/rider. I'd count it as having Zzap Gun as a breath weapon and wouldn't bother with guns on it's back, but would add various 40k Orky stuff (pikes with skulls, plunged into Maw's back and interconnected with chains, dog collar made from plastic chain and Orky banner).

Would this work? I want it to look cool, but also to be legal for games. Any tips and ideas?

As for size, it is roughly the same size, but may be a little bit wide, but this shouldn't make too much of a difference. As long as you use it as the smaller squiggoth instead of a gargantuan squiggoth you should be fine.
